They haven’t released details as to who Sadie Sink is playing. Speculation is that she plays Jean Grey from X-Men, but there’s also rumors that she plays Typhoid Mary. Mary’s a mutant with Dissociative Identity Disorder who is generally a villain for Daredevil, and if she and The Hand both are in this movie, it practically confirms that Matt Murdock is appearing.
There’s also speculation that, if Sadie Sink is playing Typhoid Mary, her mental abilities could cause the Hulk to resurface. In She-Hulk, Banner showed that he’d created a device that kept him from becoming the Hulk. Mary could trigger the transformation anyway, though, with her powers. And the Hulk would be pissed, because Banner’s kept him subdued for years.
They had a Typhoid Mary already in Daredevil or Jessica Jones I believe. Also, would be kind of a waste of one of the biggest up and coming actresses that just happens to be a prominent red head.
True. But Marvel isn’t opposed to recasting when they need to. Terrence Howard/Don Cheadle, for example.
I’ve also seen speculation that she’ll be playing Firestar, though I think that’s probably not true, as she’d be too obscure a character. Firestar debuted in the Spider-Man cartoon in 1981, and didn’t appear in the comics until 1985 (for in-continuity; she’d appeared in a one-shot prior to that).
Yes, but when they do that, it’s the same character, and with the same continuity as before.
I have very strong doubts that they’d bring in a character from Daredevil, one that isn’t normally associated with Spider-Man, and recast her. There doesn’t seem to be any reason to do so.
I’m assuming the organic web shooters tie into Bruce Banner talking about DNA mutating. Peter picks up a power he never had before, so he’s seeking advice from Banner.
Happy opening day everyone. I plan on taking my kid sometime this weekend and the reviews have been coming in positive. Rotten Tomatoes over 90% for both critics and audience. Should be fun. I may have sought out the spoiler for the character Sadie Sink is playing but won’t say anything until afterwards.
When singer-songwriter Steve Lacy blurted who Ms. Sink was playing* out I wondered if if it was a fake out. I won’t say anything, but it was not a shock.
* technically he only named a character and did not specify who played that character, though making the connection didn’t need Sherlock Holmes.
I haven’t seen anything confirmed, but it’s blindingly obvious who she’s playing. At this point it’s like when they were saying Benedict Cumberbatch was playing “John Harrison” in Star Trek.
Yeah, I mean…it’s so obvious there was no huge gasp from my crowd. We all just kind of went “Ah, so it is that.”
Great movie, probably 4th place for me in terms of Tom Holland’s four movies, though.
I’ll spoiler-box my thoughts on one issue, though I’m happy to go “spoilery” beyond a certain post.
So…I thought that Jean Grey may actually be able to help Peter by lifting that amnesia layer off Ned and MJ’s minds. I know there is danger in that, but I thought she was at least going to hint that she might be able to do that.
But, no, we get no hint of her doing that or that she even considers doing it.
I mean, we have a deep telepath. I would have hoped there would be, well, hope that Ned and MJ can get their memory of Peter back. There was a little hope there when Ned did the secret handshake and said “Peter”, but not enoguh.
I went to a multiplex last night to see “Hadestown” (amazing and motivational), but when I saw everyone in Spidey sweatshirts (and one guy in his red jammies), I wanted to sneak into Spider-Man (…Spider-Man/Does whatever a spider can…).
I’d give it 3rd out of the four but the Mysterio one never landed as well for me. But I agree that all four are well worth seeing if you enjoy the genre/character.
