Hey, fourth place Tom Holland means better than a lot of movies!

Really really enjoyed this one. Got my Spider-Man versus Hulk fight!
And, not that it matters, but the movie is doing very well at the box office. A record $168 million on Friday alone, $355 for the weekend in North America and $573 million overseas.
Just got back from seeing it. I’ve only watched each of the Spiderman movies once, so it makes more sense for me to compare it to MCU movies, and it was imho by a good margin the best MCU (or adjacent) movie since Endgame.
It really did the “mostly focus on the main character but with some cameos” thing right. All of Hulk, Widow and Punisher made sense and fit in, but it was still clearly his movie. The action, the comedy, the drama, they all hit. And I managed to sufficiently avoid spoilers/trailers/speculation that the reveal of the identity of the possessor was a surprise to me. I assume it was a studio/rights issue that kept us from having the very obvious post-credits scene where that character ends up knocking on the front door of Dr. Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters
I missed the stinger because I REALLY had to use the restroom but I could have sworn my wife looked it up and told me something different. I probably just misheard her. I actually inferred that was happening from the scene of her on the bus heading into the leafy unknown. “Ah, off to the mutant school in New England…”, thought I.
Edit: I misread your post saying that wasn’t the stinger. I thought you said it was.
No, the actual post-credits scene just showed the screen of Ned’s Spidey tracker app, indicating that Spider-Man was somewhere in space. Nothing to do with where Jean Grey might have gone. And BTW, Professor Xavier’s school was in Westchester County, not New England.
Yeah, that was a misread on my part. The stinger was as you described.
My wife also corrected my comic book geography but I can’t pretend to care about that 
I loved it, for me it was a perfect spider-man movie, saving New York, one person at a time

Also, I love that they lampshaded one of those “comic book cover” moments by having Spidey comment on how cool it looked.
I think they’ll introduce a new Wolverine actor too, if they do then yes, if not then ick no.
Also my son and I detected some attraction between Jean and Peter Parker… does this mean a new rival for poor old Cyclops? (the man has the worst luck in the universe)
Saw it yesterday with my kid. I liked it a lot but I do think they swung a little too hard in the evil psychic actions to try and then redeem Jean within the same movie (at least her actions pre-kidnapping). She was causing millions of dollars in damages and injuring a lot of people (tank chase causing accidents, tank explosion, Hulk rampage, Punisher shooting people). They hand wave it away as no one was killed but that wasn’t for a lack of trying.
I did like the end conversation with memory Aunt May talking with Jean. Especially since that is a projection of Peter’s internal comprehension of May and what she was like. Peter has the emotional intelligence to convey that message through May.
Lastly, are there any other prominent Marvel characters with Marvel in the name that haven’t appeared in the MCU yet? Ms Marvel, Captain Marvel (both Danvers and Rambeau), and now Marvel Girl.

You don’t even know if no one was killed. It showed a bunch of accidents during the Big Psychic Bubble and we just take it on faith that none of those crashes were fatal, pedestrians hit, etc. Everyone gasps when Spider-Man smashes the front of a police car and that nearly kills the cop inside (but Peter is allowed to just peace out) but Jean Gray’s stuff is way beyond that.
Thaaaaaattt said, comic movie logic and half the reason for seeing this sort of film is to see stuff get smashed up good so I can’t let it bother me too much. Sort of like how the law enforcement and criminal law system would work if you let people randomly adhere suspects to a wall with “Here’s your bank robbers!”
Know nothing about the comics but Damage Control was so cartoonishly telegraphed that I was just “Ok, so here’s the real bad guys” within ten seconds. “Here’s all the collected evil villain tech we’re using for a brighter tomorrow! Wink, wink”. Jean mindsmoked her chip but, when Spidey took off his chip, I think he left it on the floor of Damage Control so I would be zero percent shocked if that wasn’t a plot point in later films in the MCU.
During the “V-Max” search, I asked my wife “What if there’s no hyphen?”
I think Hugh is going to remain Wolverine for them.

But even if they recast with a younger actor the character will still be old enough to be her great-great-great-grandfather.
I think they’ll get rid of all the old X-Men with multiverse shenanigans and whatever “Doomsday” is. Leaving the room for new X-Men in the MCU. Maybe even new core group with Jean. Call it an all new, all different X-Men.
You know I hadn’t really thought about it, I guess if they are both adults there’s nothing wrong with it, but then why would Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine be icky and not a younger actor?
I guess it’s all optics really, audiences would be grossed out by an older looking Wolverine courting Jean and not by a younger looking one, even if they are actually both far older than her.
In Fantastic Four stories, She-Thing was originally called Ms. Marvel and teen age Valeria Richards from somewhere else in the multiverse went by Marvel Girl. Then there is Marvel Boy the Uranian who goes all the way back to 1950…Damn! missed the “prominent” qualifier. Never mind.
