I’ve heard it called “stealth suit”, I think its just Peter trying to be sneaky.
Just re-watched the original trailer. They must have shot a lot of scenes just for that. He’s not in the Iron Spider suit, Fury’s lines are different.
I preferred the suit in Homecoming. It seems more Spiderman rather than alternate spidery Iron Man. But I can see why Peter would like the more powerful suit.
It looks to me like he has the Iron Spider suit in the US, but only takes his regular suit with him to Europe.
On re-watch I think you’re right.
I can think of one point five examples indicating that being an antagonist in the original comics might not translate to being one in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (spoilered if you want to guess):
Full point for the Skrulls (Captain Marvel); half-point for Mordo (Doctor Strange) who was an ally in that movie but is shaping up to become an antagonist in the sequel.

M’Baku, who’s the villain Man-Ape in the comics. M’Baku challenges Black Panther early in the movie, but later turns out to be an ally.
