Spielberg pic of "dead" dino freaks out net morons

As most of you have seen, a pic of Spielberg posing in front of an obvious prop of a dead (sleeping?) triceratops dinosaur lit up the net recently. It was a jab at the Texas cheerleader posing with a dead lion after a hunt. Cool

My point here is not about hunting, but how in the flying fuck do people think this was real? Comments all over the net ragged the “hunter” for killing such an animal.

How can people be so fucking stupid and ignorant?

Linky?

you can probably google it before i remember how to post a link, apologies

So the story is that two people made angry comments on Facebook about a 20-year-old photo?

Must’ve been a slow news day.

Linky.

No, many people freaked out and thought it was real. It just makes me laugh…or cry

I’m a meat eater, but I still think it’s wrong to kill dinosaurs for sport.

Personally, I’d say it depends on whether they crush a butterfly as they fall and thus change the outcome of a presidential election.

You’re easily whooshed.

There are plenty of people who have no idea dinosaurs are extinct. I have taught several of them.

We here on the dope are creatures of privilege.

That is a compulsory post to my FB page.

It’s a photo from 20 years ago? Maybe Spielberg killed the last dinosaur. That’s why they’re now extinct.

/extreme sarcasm

The pic was on reddit yesterday. Pretty much agreed by everyone that it was all a joke.

From the NY Daily News article:

This just looks like playing along to me. There’s a hell of a lot of whooshing going on.

Well, the bigger problem is all those poachers going after triceratops horn. Considered a powerful aphrodisiac in parts of Asia, don’t you know.

Indeed. I don’t think anyone has said “Oh, the HUMANITY!” with a straight face since the Hindenberg disaster.

Me too. Pretty soon dinosaurs will just be confined to zoos.

It was a lot more than two. I saw it even on my own timeline. A lot of people didn’t really process ‘dinosaur’. They just saw Speilberg posing with a dead animal and kneejerked into outrage.

Not really— from what I read this whole outrage over the triceratops was made as a sort of parody of the facebook comments from a few days back condemning some fashion model who had been photographed while hunting in a safari.
