Not really— from what I read this whole outrage over the triceratops was made as a sort of parody of the facebook comments from a few days back condemning some fashion model who had been photographed while hunting in a safari.

Oh, I know. And most people I saw played along in the spirit of that. But some people didn’t recognize it as parody because they didn’t process the absurdity of it being a dinosaur. They just saw ‘big animal’ and smug hunter and went to town with it.

None of my friends, fortunately. But friends of my friends… good god.

Honestly, I’m confused about how anyone failed to immediately recognize the “triceratops” and location. I mean, pretty much everyone has seen Jurassic Park multiple times, right? The triceratops one of the first dinosaurs you get a good look at. And that scene has the “That is one big pile of shit” line, which is almost as good as, and considerably more quotable than, “I forgot my mantra”.

Now I just want to watch Spielberg films.

As most of you have seen, a pic of Spielberg posing in front of an obvious prop of a dead (sleeping?) triceratops dinosaur lit up the net recently. It was a jab at the Texas cheerleader posing with a dead lion after a hunt. Cool

My point here is not about hunting, but how in the flying fuck do people think this was real? Comments all over the net ragged the “hunter” for killing such an animal.

Dinosaurs aren’t extinct. They’ve evolved into birds. But the mighty Chicken-saurus of the Tyson plaines doesn’t quite have the same sense of fear to it as a Tyrannosaurus Rex
