Spinal Tap/Folksmen Tour!

I heard on NPR a bit of one of the group had a New Age album out. It sounded extremely good. Can’t remember which member it was, tho. McKean’s???

Just got back. Terrific show–2 straight hours w/no intermission. A few video clips, anecdotes, and Q&A, but mostly lots and lots of music. I’m going to embed the set list in case anyone wants to be surprised.

Hell Hole
Never Did No Wonderin’
Clam Caraban
Bitch School
Loco Man
This Bulging River
All the Way Home
Blood on the Coal
(Listen to the) Flower People
Corn Wine
The Majesty of Rock
All Backed Up
Stonehenge
Start Me Up
Cups and Cakes
Old Joe’s Place
Big Bottom
The Good Book Song
Rainy Day Sun
Sex Farm
Gimme Some Money
A Mighty Wind
All 3 are genuinely talented musicians, though Guest did most of the heavy lifting with solo after solo (guitar and mandolin). McKean did double duty on keyboards (and harmonica), while Shearer had his moment in the sun with an inspired rendition of a familiar song where he was the only one playing for its duration (on stand up bass; he also played bass guitar, of course). There were even a couple of dance “numbers”, including the infamous you-know-what. :stuck_out_tongue: And terrific vocal arrangements, especially the Folksmen numbers.

Overall, a marvelous time, I’m really glad I went (and am incredibly tempted to throw on the Spinal Tap DVD right now).

Hey, I was there tonight, too! Fabulous show at a wonderful venue. I loved LegoTap’s version of “Tonight I’m Gonna Rock You Tonight”.

I’ll be up in Oakland again tomorrow for the Jeff Beck gig. Yee-haw!

I’d seen one other concert there (the Oakland symphony) but have usually been there for the movie nights. I’ve certainly never seen the Paramount as packed as it was tonight, so it was fun seeing the gorgeous interior from so high up (never usually have to hike up all those stairs).

Well, at least you won’t have to sit through a dismal free-form jazz exploration written by Derek Smalls

I hate you! :D:D

Give us a full report on El Becko, too!

Well my girlfriend surprised me with tickets to the Houston show on the 30th, and I must say this thread has gotten me pretty hyped! I don’t really do concerts, but I’ll be glad to make an exception for the chance to see these guys.

Can I expect to see any of you wonderful people there?
