Well, not exactly…Guest, McKean and Shearer will be performing as themselves. They’re headed out next month on the “Unwigged & Unplugged” tour, playing both Tap and Folksmen tunes. Wonder if they’ll do “Skeletons of Quinto”?
OK, I see that the concert was just announced yesterday, so there have been no announcements at the SB County Bowl. I’ll keep an eye out, but I may be it NYC that weekend. That said, I really want to see this concert.
Whoop! They’ll be just up the street from me (in America’s Most Beautiful Art Deco Theater no less!), though TicketMaster doesn’t appear to be selling tix yet…
A few years ago I saw McKean and wife, Annette O’Toole, perform as a duo (with some accompaniment from O’Toole’s musician daughter) in a small music club. Got a chance to chat with McKean before the show (my friend played a set immediately before).
My friend had sufficient balls to ask McKean if he was going to do “Stonehenge”.
McKean “yelled” at him “NO! We’re not going to do fucking ‘Stonehenge’!!!”
All of us within earshot felt truly blessed to have witnessed it.
Fuck me! Spinal Tap cancelled at the Santa Barbara County Bowl! I was unsure of when tickets went on sale. It turned out that they went on sale on the first Saturday, two days after they were first advertised in the local free weekly rag. I showed up on Monday, hoping to get a shitty ticket anywhere, and lo and behold, I was able to get seats on the aisle near the center of the closest section to the stage.
It was odd that I could get such great tickets well after tickets went on sale. I knew it was to good to be true and those rat bastards cancelled. Grrrr!
