Heh. I was thinking of you as well when un-sticky thoughts were wished upthread.
Have made scrambled eggs, using (of all people’s) Gordon Ramsay’stechnique, which landed in my twitter stream last week at some point. Not sure that they came out different from my normal ones, but they were yummy. Had them over the bread I made yesterday. Very nice toast.
Gotta get moving so that I make it to church on time…
Buns, I’m always eating taters, does that make me a cannibal?
I hate this spring ahead business. I feel entirely ripped off this morning. I’m with FCM, pick a time and stick with it. It doesn’t save energy either, or rather the little teeny tiny bit it saves is negligible.
The party for our friend’s 48th birthday was a blast. We grilled some ribeyes, had baked taters and salad and good cake. We also played 99 and I won a hand again.
I don’t know what’s on the books for today. Nothing, I hope. I ARE TIRED. We stayed up well past time to change the clocks and ended sleeping at our friend’s house. It was rather uncomfortable because my hubby is a couch hog. Ah well, nothing a little coffee can’t set straight.
The sun is out and the sky is clear. It was coooold this morning. Thirty degrees!
Off to cruise the net for a bit. Hugs, smooches and gropes to all!
The house is all mine for a while. **FCD **and daughter are at his office making study guides for her class. SIL has left for work. I need to find a DVD, because TV right now sucks. I need lunch, too. What to have??
Tired because of having people over last night until pretty late (by new time), and Mr. Lissar is hungover, which doesn’t garner a lot of sympathy. Too many g&t’s. Attacks Husband and Quasi-Daughter staggered down for church at 8:30 (new time) after getting to bed at 2:30 (also new time), and have since retreated for hardcore napping.
I should clean the kitchen, but I’m very very tired and unfocused.
MOOOOOOM stayin’ in one’s robe is always appropriate, I say.
Did Taters say she got baked last night?
Tomorrow night is men’s night at church. Since this is Lent we have decided it shall be a fish fry. Since there was already some fish in the freezer in the church kitchen (as opposed to the freezer in the Sacristy? Ummm… bear where else would a freezer be but in the kitchen) it was decided that we’d just use that and replenish for the next fish ‘n chips which is scheduled for March 26th. Makes perfect sense, right? Well, young Priest said he would take the biiiiiig box o’ fish out of the freezer this mornin’ and put it in the fridge (the one in the kitchen). However, there was no biiiiiig box o’ fish. Thus I get a call from one of the other planners of tomorrow’s fish fry (have I mentioned lately that I do not have any better sense than to raise my hand and volunteer for stuff like this every freakin’ time?) to inform me there is no fish in the freezer. So, I’m like, ummmm… biiiiiig cardboard box o’ fish in the freezer, I know this because I am the one that put it there. I begin to doubt the sanity of young Priest. It only took us eight and a half months to drive the poor man bats, a new record! Then, I talk to planner number three. He took the fish out of the freezer and took it to his house to thaw out and cut into smaller filets cause said biiiiig box o’ fish is full of biiiiiig filets. So, young Priest is not yet insane. Whew! I’ve made three calls in the past half hour to assure folks the biiiiiig box o’ fish is alive (ok the fish is dead) and well (well, it’s dead fish so I guess not so well) and in good hands.
IOW, another typical Sunday mornin’ at good ol’ St. Pat’s!
I think that’s one biiiiiiggg fish story. :dubious:
I am now going to make scrambled eggs for my lunch–and I stole that clip for my FB wall. Thanks, GT!
Back from foraging for food before the church crowd strikes. I think I’m going to rearrange the furniture in the family room today and then see how it strikes me.
My garden is also too boggy to work in. Too bad, because I’ve got the fever BAD. I hope next weekend is dry–I can spend in it in the yard! <does Snoopy dance>
I have been to Staples, Barnes & Noble, Whole Foods and Giant Eagle (grocery store), so I’ve stocked up on everything I need for meals this week.
Lunch was pizza toast (made with Italian bread, of course) and some mamey paste which I had mistaken for tomato paste in the freezer. Just added sugar to it this time. Yum.
Still need to go find a veggie. Maybe some celery.
Got a new router at Staples. Lots faster and more secure than the current one. Will allegedly let me print wirelessly (not that I print much anyway).
I’d also like to be out in the garden. All kinds of green is starting to come out. the hellebore has a bunch of blossoms ready to open. The crocuses are about to bloom and the daffodils are 6-8 inches out of the ground. Yay! But, yeah, muddy.
Knit break. I just watched ***1776 ***- the DVD version is longer than the VCR version, including the song Cool Cool Conservative Men. I wouldn’t have gotten that song when I first saw the show, but doggone now, is it pointed!! I love that show. I know our founding fathers didn’t sing and dance in Independence Hall, but the musical did make it clear that they were just guys trying to do a job. History books made them bigger than life…
Still home alone. I think it’s time to run the vacuum cleaner. The carpet is gross.
**rosie **- we’ve got branches and trees down all over the yard. Most of the trees are pines that were killed by pine borers, but the branches are all kinds that cracked under the weight of snow. Maybe with the extra evening light, I can go out and start gathering the wood in one place to be cut into kindling. Except for the pine - the kids will cut that up and burn it in their pit.
In theory, our windows will be at the warehouse on Tuesday, so maybe they can be installed by the end of the week. Hope so! I’ll be so glad to be rid of these ancient windows, and it’ll force me to launder all the curtains. There’s a fun chore…
I need chocolate. But I’m gonna vacuum instead. 'Cause I’m an adult. dammit.
That’s some tree, rosie. Sorry it fell, but glad you’re OK.
I’ve never seen 1776. Gotta go find it at the library.
New MMP is ready to go, although I almost lost it just now. Not sure what I hit that backed me out a couple of screens. Found my way back, thank goodness. Really didn’t feel like re-writing. I’ll be posting it this evening, for the impatient crowd.
Now I’m going to go off to play in my home office. Really.
Eh, I moved the fambily room around. It’s not what I want and I’m in a fuck about it. I’ll get over it–I’m not about to go spend more money when we have perfectly good furniture etc, but I was hoping the change would scratch this itch which I cannot articulate. It didn’t. :dubious:
But at least I can feel righteous about vacuuming, dusting and polishing the glass (does one polish glass?) in the FR. ONE room in the house is company worthy…
Off to do mindless things. I hate that the day is almost over. I don’t like DST. It makes no sense to me.
When they show it on TCM, the host tells why it was left out of the theatrical release - Nixon was friendly with the director (or producer - I forget which) and was offended by the song.
