Spring cleaning – a tidying swap-meet MMP

I think Rachel Ray should be shot at dawn with one of her entrees stuffed in her mouth.

Just sayin’ Of course, she IS better than Sandra Lee, whose awfulness has achieved awesomeness…
All that said, having new recipes to try is fun and I hear you on not having enough mouths to try them. Or something like that.

Such a loverly day - I wish I could have played hookey. But I didn’t, because I’m a dedicated professional.

Met first thing this morning with FCD’s surgeon. I like him. He talked to us like intelligent beings and answered all of our questions matter-of-factly. He also offered to give **FCD **a referral to another surgeon who does disk replacement if he wanted to check that out. Plus he’s a sailor, which makes him a good guy. He did say that boating will not be out of the question this year. So yay for that!

Work was meh. Then I came home. I’ve got 2 fake crab quiches in the oven, and they smell very yum. I love this recipe(I think I shared it before) and I changed it a little today - used swiss cheese and peas. Every time I’ve made it, it comes out perfecto! And it smells so good in here - daughter better get her butt home fast!!

Our contractor came by and told us our windows should be at the warehouse by next Tues. Once he has them all, he’ll call and set up an install day. I finished patching the kitchen ceiling, and it looks pretty good. If you look, you can see where the patch is, but most people don’t stare at kitchen ceilings. At least not people I let into my house.

Rain in store for the next 4 days or so - that should take care of the last bits of snow. So yay for that. And I may take a week off just to futz in the yard - maybe when it gets just a little bit warmer.

I can haz Firday??

Whassamatter rigs can’t keep up with Sandra Lee’s tablescapes? :stuck_out_tongue: I still say she’s bulimic. She just looks it.

We have scarfed down leftovers. Plus, I scored a veggie lasagna for Thursday night’s dindin! My good friend who makes a nummy veggie lasagna brought me one. Tommorow is soup and sammich at church. So, gots me some dindin for the next two nights anyways.

It is sooooo gloomy lookin’ out! I think tomorrow is gonna be a stormy day.

Bulimic? IMO, she’s a barely functional alcoholic. She’s an odd one, for sure.

I think I’m making shrimp stir fry and pot stickers for dinner. All those in favor, say Aye.

mmmm, Soapy, that sounds yum. And I’m already full of quiche!!

Urgh. Why do my hips hurt? Seriously.

I desperately need to clean my room. It’s getting so I can just barely walk, but I don’t have time right now.

I’m going to be a Mature Adult tonight. I’m going to do all my chores (washing dishes, remaking the bed, hanging up my work clothes (we got new uniforms with blazers and everything so now we look professional and stuff), feeding the abandoned bunny in the laundry room) and taking a shower. Then I will play Elder Scrolls: Oblivion until it’s time to go to bed.

Yes, I have become one of Those People. Gamers. Curse this fantasy game’s hide for having kitty characters.

This is why I never bought into WOWCrack. I know my weakness.

Also Army Boy is at work until midnight tonight and I have to do something.

I’ve revised my plan: I’ll play until thirty minutes before bed and then I’ll read a book. See, I can be a mature adult!

Everyone’s food sounds yummy! I’ve added a bunch of recipes to the blog. I don’t like watching Rachael Ray, but I got one of her cookbooks for Christmas and I have to say that her recipes are clever, tasty and easy. So I put up with the cutesy.

Yeah, having bats somewhere other than your workshop would be preferable, I think, Bobbio.

Glad MIL and your parents can help with Nat, LiLi. Hope the baby gets here very soon.

I would like to announce that much of my paper clutter has been contained. In a manner that will make filing and shredding much easier.

Am about to move non-paper objects to their proper homes. Then it’ll be time to vacuum. And bake brownies, I think. Wish I had some Irish Cream for them; taxi’s brownies sound yummy.

Off to continue with the decluttering.

Hugs.

We had roast beast and Yorkshire pud for dinner. I am stuffed and content. I loves me some roast beast and Yorkshire pud. I must be a dislocated Brit.

The Hello Dollies are half gone–and NOT by me.
#2 son and I just got through being responsible pyromaniacs. I have a stand of tall grass–it’s not pampas, but it may as well be. Anyhoo, I never did get around to cutting the dead stalks down last fall, so we torched it. The ground is soaking from all the snow and the shoots are so high that fire would kill or damage them. It only took 2 matches (which is a salient and graphic lesson to #2 son about how quickly fire can catch and spread). We doused the embers with many buckets of water.

And that was my fun for the day. I did laundry and found some spring sweaters for work in my closet and puttered and pissed away my day off. Yay!

Should I do the bat house, or go for the gusto and put up a belfry?

My rescue buddy Tollie came by after work and took lots of pictures of the lil dude. “That’s a GOOD bat, Bob!” (meaning it was photogenic)

My colleague just sent an email asking for faculty recommendations on an important topic.

Well, that’s what she meant to do.

What she did do was ask for FAULTY recommendations.

Those, I can supply!

I’m home from [del]sloshing around in the pool[/del] water aerobics. The water was chilly tonight. Even after we got working it was never really warm.

After that I talked to TVMan for a bit and now I’ve got some paperwork to do before I go to bed.

Wheeee!!!

Faulty recommendations? I gots 'em too, Soapy!

I’ve never had Yorkshire pudding, I don’t believe…

Doesn’t Drae already have a belfry, Bobbio? You could just send her the bat(s).

I’ve got all kinds of stuff put away/recycled (boy was that overdue!).

I’ma finish reading my book before continuing the declutter and dusting. Woot.

Um, who here would be surprised to know that I haven’t started my paperwork yet? :stuck_out_tongue:

Heck, I’m still only halfway though the Booster club minutes.

Hello Dolly bars are like crack. Just sayin’.
Off to bed soon. Busy day on the morrow.

Feh, fucked up work day. Too tired and pissed to go into it.

Suffice it to say, tomorrow is another day, and I can only hope it’s better.

Hubby was nice and took me out to dinner. He heard how upset I was in the tone of my voice, and just decided I needed a break. It was much appreciated.

Hugs and smooches to all. I read, but really couldn’t retain. I’m sorry.

Ok, I did the best that I could. Keep up the good work on the Booster Club stuff, doggio. When GilaMonster has to do the minutes for her soccer club, it takes her hours and hours.

Well, taxi, tomorrow we’re going to be baking all day and we just happen to have Bailey’s and boxed brownie mix so…

Hey! jumps up and down

As I’ve been telling everybody in the MMP and threads abroad, I’m doing a Master’s in Translation. As my dissertation, I’m going to evaluate a program of a type called “translation memory” (this one). What this program does is separate text into chunks called “segments” (usually by looking for periods and colons) and then store in a database all the segments and the translations you have done. If a new segment comes up which is very similar to a previous one, the program shows you the previous pair. It doesn’t translate for you, all it does is remember your previous work.

To evaluate the program, one of the things I need is some texts which have common segments and common words but which aren’t formulaic. So I was thinking “what can I use… hmmm… recipes?.. That would work, but I need permission… D’OOOOOH! The Mumper Recipes!”

I’ve already contacted McUne, as Keeper Of The Sacred Blog, but I’d like to know if any of you has a problem with my use of their recipes. Oh, and if you want me to be able to cite you by legal name in case one of the examples I mention is yours, I’ll need you to email me the name.

Thaaaaaank you lots and lots!
