We’re ready to go in the morning. Supper in Easton then back to chill and crash. More tomorrow.
The mower was $255, not $220. Started on the first pull, first time of the day, when I picked it up at the shop.
Lunch was a low-carb tortilla with tuna/celery/tarragon salad, jalapeños, and American cheese, folded in half and grilled on a cast-iron fajita pan; and chicharrones.
I am sooo glad this work week is over (well, mostly: I’m currently babysitting my company laptop through a required OS upgrade
). Honestly, none of our incoming new hires can read an email/follow directions to save their lives…sometimes I really wonder about these people. When I’m not cursing at them from the safety of my home office.
Last night, two tornado warnings within 30 minutes that specifically mentioned my neighborhood had me hiding out in the bathroom – the only room in the house without windows – for 10-15 minutes, with the dog who was shaking because of the super loud storm. Tornados kind of freak me out, and any warnings that are close/serious enough make me overreact a little: I close the doors to the front bedrooms, pull the room-darkening curtains over the windows in the other bedroom, and go into the bathroom (with a battery-powered radio) until the storm weakens. Afterwards, I’m always glad that I live alone and no one was here to witness my craziness.
That said, this morning there was video of a weak twister that was only 2 miles from my house!
So was mine, yesterday, and I did some shopping afterwards. ![]()
I figured I’d look for new things to eat. When I went out on Saturday night I had a little chili and some sweet potato tots: both were awesome, and I realized that I’ve started to tire of my main food groups (tuna and crackers, pepperoni and cheese, and chicken nuggets). And, between not feeling hungry and being limited to 3 oz per meal my desire to make anything has been non-existent. I decided to try protein bars, even though my program doesn’t recommend them for another 4-5 months because they’re very dense and can be hard to tolerate: luckily, the one I had yesterday and the one I had today went down just fine! I also found a couple of other new things, and it’s crazy how happy I am just to have a few more options.
Weight-loss-related aside: this is my first vaccination since I had surgery, and I can actually see the swelling in my arm where I was jabbed! The last three times I couldn’t see any swelling because my arms were fatter! This is so weird/cool!!! ![]()
(I’ve lost 45 pounds in the last 19 weeks)
Howdy Y’all! Diet Poopsies got bought and we decided to have N.O.L. at a local seafood place called A.J.s. OYKW got the shrimp po boy and I got the catfish sammich. Both orders came with fries and the sammiches were hyuuuuuuuuuuuuge. Thus any need to feed this evenin’ has been via forage, which I have not done cause I am still stuffded.
Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. You’re all adorable. I’d hug you all if it didn’t mean you’d come down with it too.
Rules here are still masks on PT, but not everyone follows those rules religiously. In any case I know I got it from my work colleagues, as we are all dropping like flies. I am anticipating more casualties by the time I get back in.
My house was hit by the edge of one tornado and another one went directly over my car with my family in it. You’re doing fine. ![]()
Happy anniversary cookie!
Well, things are moving on the Molly front. Ann called the dad’s mother. She wasn’t aware that the mom and girls were gone and she talks to the dad every couple of days. According to Ann, Molly’s nana is fixing to get on a plane from Denver to come take care of things. Thank goodness for someone who may be able to get, not only Molly, but the dad some help.
The apartment’s clean, laundry done, groceries bought and a stoner supper consumed. Currently have a little reddish dog curled up in my arms and have decided to let him stay there for a while whilst I surf the net and find something interesting to stream.
Yay! I’m so glad to hear it. ![]()
Cockwombles!
… that is all.
Friday night, Date Night.
Tonight we went to D’Anna’s Cafe Italiano. We started with a mixed-greens salad with just the barest amount of oil-and-vinegar dressing. Mrs. L.A. had lasagna, and I had bruscellone. They kind-of accommodated my carbohydrate restriction by serving me sautéed mushrooms, red pepper, yellow squash, tomatoes, and artichoke hearts. I say ‘kind-of’ because it also had a little gnocchi. I ate it anyway. Mrs. L.A. is very particular about her lasagna. She likes her own the best. But she said the she liked the restaurant’s lasagne even better than her own. That’s saying something. She had two white Russians, and I had two vespers. She ordered tiramisu, and I had two bites. I think she’ll finish off the rest of it shortly.
I was too quick on the plastic. She’d planned on paying. Next time.
I wish you could try the tiramasu from a restaurant here in my city. Best dessert out I’ve ever had.
Evening all. Went to the gym around 2pm and…discovered I had left my wallet at home with the membership token. So back home and decided to work on some puzzles, which led to a quick nap, which got me to soccer park-walking time…so I finally did my swimming from 7-8:30pm, then came home and ate a Cheeburger for dinner.
Tomorrow is soccer refereeing, have 3 games (9:45, 11:00, and 1:30) for Under-10’s, so we’ll see how that goes. Weather Wizards say it will be clear, but about 52F for my first game and 60F for the last one. So long-sleever referee shirt is indicated.
red, hope it all works out for Molly. And the humans, of course.
Oopsie, there is no craziness when a tornado threatens; I have my own closet-space set if one ever gets close to me. You did the right thing.
hippy, I’m happy getting a .05 cent/gal off using my Kroger card; $2.50 off each gallon is a huge savings; don’t see it running too long. And looks like a lot of MMP’ers are getting that 2nd booster; my left arm aches a little from my shot today.
OK, need to be thinking about bed time given the evening exercise and tomorrow’s chasing kids time. All y’all take care.
Hello! Just sticking my head in to say I’m still alive. I’ve been busy getting ready for my sister coming. Whole lotta cookin’ going on.
I’ve read every post, but this would be way too long if I typed out all the thought responses I had while reading. so I’ll just say I love you all. Big hugs!
Thanks for checking in. I know that I notice when you are not around.
I’m planning on getting my 2nd booster around the first of July. I am going to a convention with mostly old people. When I think they are old, you folks gotta believe they are old, so I don’t want to risk bringing anything with me.
My normal hermit lifestyle probably protects me more than any jabs available, but you do what you have to do, right?
It warmed up very nicely today and the next door idiots had a yard sale. They didn’t bother to think about moving some of their vehicles (most of which I doubt run) so people were parking in front of our yard (and two rather entitled jerks parked in my yard and argued with me when I told them to move).
I get that I don’t own the road, but every time someone parked in front of our place, GG got all excited because he thought he was going to have company and VBC would demonstrate that she was a proper cat by hiding under the bed. It was very annoying for all of us.
Not to mention that I was already crabby because I still don’t have the thread the idiot cats hid and am stalled with that project. EVEN the post office has DMC 3346 fer cryin’ out loud.
The next one calls for ribbons from a company that went out of business a while back and while there are other ribbon companies that have picked up the slack, the color numbers are different. This means that I’m going to have to be really nice to hubs for a while because he’s my color matching expert. I swear to god, that man is amazing when he chooses matching or complimentary colors for me. Of course the last thing he wants to do is go ribbon/thread/fabric shopping with me, so I have to soften him first before asking.
I have another project that I could start but it’s red on red and I need to work on that outside in the bright sun because of the aforementioned crappy eyes.
Once of my Columbine’s is blooming. The bud is just barely starting to open so I don’t know what color it is, but I’m excited. I need flowers in my life!
My buyer came over to pick up the weekend’s supply of cheese and told me about her idea to buy a large cottage cheese tub and pose GG next to it for a pic and then turn it into “our” label, then glue the label to the tub and pose GG again to make a real label. I think she might drink too much Bailey’s and coffee but who am I to judge?
I’m happy to hear about Molly but also surprised that her nana didn’t know about Mom and kids leaving.
Welp, contracts have been signed and a deposit has been paid, so there’s no backing out now.
(Actually, we can back out within five days with no penalty, but we’re not gonna.)
Construction should start in early May and closing anywhere from November to January.
It’s been an emotional day. We’re both excited to start this new chapter, but Mrs W is more sad to leave San Francisco than I am. Her sister is here (which is why we moved here in the first place), so I get it. But she gets that it isn’t financially tenable for us to stay here. So it’s complicated.
I’m confident that once the smoke has cleared we’ll be happy in our new home.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. I hope today starts better than yesterday, I ran over a possum on the way to work. Poor guy. ![]()
Happy belated Anniversary!
Yay for alive nellie!!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 47 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 79 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. No big plans for today. Y’all are shocked to hear that I am sure. Well, actually, I am makin’ a corn casserole and a chawklit sheet cake with chawklit pee-kahn icin’ because tomorrow is First Sunday Brunch over to the church house so I suppose that is actual activity. However, I can get those done this mornin’ and then sloth the rest of the day. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit.
Cookie belated happy anniversary.
red yay for the action re Molly!
Wheelie conga rats! I know y’all will be happy in your brand new house.
Nellie we have missed you, but I understand the flurry of stuff before your sis gets there. I am glad she’s comin’ to visit and know y’all will have a great time.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
Good to see you back nellie. I missed you.
Your lucky sister sounds like she’s about to be spoiled.
unknown, I’m thinking that the dad didn’t say anything to his mom during the usual phone calls (she’s 1200 miles away). She’s concerned enough to hop a plane to BNA to take care of him though.
Up, caffeinating and breakfasted. I was going to take the bike out this afternoon (the guy who stores / works on it called and said it was tuned up), but after talking to Ann before bed last night, she asked if I could pick up Molly’s nana at the airport. That takes priority, so I’ll be there this afternoon. We’ve met several times when she’s come to visit, so she knows who to look for. I’m just glad that she’ll be here. Maybe I can get some yardwork in this morning though.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Good morning everyone.
I had to drive to the office yesterday and was out the door at 0430. I arrived at my destination by 5:15 and started working. It was a long and busy day, made longer by the horrible traffic and commute. But, I survived (go me), and it’s the weekend.
There is nothing much going on in my little corner of the world. My son-in-law may be dropping by with one of the planter boxes he’s made for me. It’ll be nice to get that filled and started with plants.
Apparently, my brain has simply forgotten what this whole “sleep” nonsense is, and I haz a major blurf today. Also heading into three big, long … days at work in a row (why, what’d ya think I meant?) so I really wish I got more rest.
So I’m getting keys (temporarily, I think) yhis weekend, and Monday morning will be opening the store all by myself AND running things for most of the day! It’s a temporary step because of some scheduling stuff, but I suspect it’s also a dress rehearsal/trial run, to see how I handle being an actual ferrealz manager.
One of my absolute favorite flowers. Now I’m excited with you!
