(Old) For Whom The Bin Tolls- A Trashy Vacation MMP

It’s vacation week for me, and half of you are RDOS, but the trash still has to go out, and Monday seems to be the day.
:notes:Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da

Mister Binman, take my bin please
Dump out the half eaten curry, and expired cheese
Give it two tips, it’s full of Russell Stover
The used cat litter is flowing over!

Binman, don’t drag it alone
It’s full of ten years of broken phones
Dump out the bucket of questionable beans
Mister Binman leave the thing clean!

Mr. Binman(Yes?) don’t mean to be mean
for filling it with 80’s acid washed jeans
Just need to part with the ball from Bocce
and the suit from Drag Show Liberace!

Mister Binman, leftovers covered in mold(covered in mold?)
Toss those peaches, they’re Methusala old
So please make this rotting mass leave
Mister Binman, give it please, please, please
Mister Binman, give it a heave!:notes:

To be fair, I have the giant compacting bin, so I can take my trash out whenever.
Hijack away!

First! Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/48f with a predicted high of 13c/56f and rain showers. Weather app says “Well, fuck a doodle do. It’s fucking raining.” Yes it is, typical Bank Holiday weather over here!

You might have to wait for an updated one from my house, but this is the picture of her from Little Paws’ site.

My bin day is Tuesday but that still means the rubbish has to be gathered up and shoved in the bin on Monday because it needs to be hauled out to the kerb on Monday night. The binmen show up any time between 7am and midday, depending on which end of the route we’re on.

No big plans for today, it’s wet outside so a day for indoor activities. I’m off the gym in a minute, then probably going to start sorting out a car-load of stuff to take to the tip. I doubt they’re open today and if they are, it’ll be busy. So tomorrow we should be taking a load of stuff down there for disposal.

I’m cooking tonight so we’re having smoked ham with roast potatoes, stuffing, Yorkshire puds and veg. Other than that, I’ll be finding some time to impersonate a sloth!

I have the same collection arrangement. This week I also have a brown bin to put out after our gardeners did some mowing and weeding on Friday.

Doggio has done a far better MMP than I had dreamed of, so I’m quite glad not to have been first today. Bravo good sir!!

My personal bin arrangements are simple: a small wastebasket in the bathroom and an 8 gallon step-can in the kitchen. Plus two ~6 gallon wastebaskets for recycling: paper in one, cans & bottles in the other. The housekeeper takes my dainty dollop of debris down the hall to the trash chute & recycling station once a week. Sometimes after an extra exuberant shopping session I need to run the leftover boxes and bags & such down the hall myself. But for normal life, those teeny containers last a full week on their one emptying.

Backstage the building collects all the recycling and bulky trash daily from the trash rooms and loads it into dumpsters downstairs in the service areas. The trash chutes lead down to compacting dumpsters. On Tuesday a recycling truck comes by and spends ~15 minutes dumping dumpsters into itself. The trash is similar on Thursday, takes more like a half hour to dump it all, then keeps a staffer busy all day long washing out the dozen-plus newly empty bins.

At full occupancy (which never occurs) about 1,200 people live here. Normal is closer to 500. Even at the smaller number it’s a big job. Thankfully not my problem.

Now about 6:30am, ~30 minutes predawn. Caffinatin’ is goin’ well. Venus is shining in the brightening twilight as the overnight clouds move off. NWS sez 75/24 on the way to 82/28. Predicting cloudy enough that beaching will be hit or miss. Again.

So very well said. I’ll be following your lead, just a few hours behind. Sloth forth!

I have roof repair guys coming today

There are multiple garbage collectors that come thru our neighborhood, usually stoopit early in the morning and on multiple days of the week. We, on the other hand, haul our garbage and recycling to the convenience center every 2-3 weeks when both garbage cans are full. Last haul was a few days before we left, so it’ll be another couple of weeks before we have to go again.

Roxy stayed up late last night because I’m an indulgent grandmother but mostly because FCD and I were watching Vera and I didn’t want to pause it. So she had extra tablet time (she’s allowed an hour of “relax” time before bed, then she gets a book read, followed by crashing. She’s still asleep so I get my computer time in peace.

I think I outlined today’s plans in yesterday’s last post - cucumber salad makeage this morning, marine museum and fetching Tobias this afternoon. I’ll need to go to Aldi sometime in there to get tortillas and milk, and maybe other stuff. But since they live across the street from Aldi, that will be an easy stop.

Once the new credit card is delivered, I can go thru all my accounts and change the card number. I also need to go make sure I have everything printed for our cruise, flight, and excursions. I won’t have phone access unless I have wifi, so I’ll have all I need on paper in hand. Yeah, I know, we’re not leaving till late June, but if I start now, there’s less chance of me forgetting, right?

I had FCD put a couple of lidocaine patches on my back, but it still aches this morning. Dammit. It’s got to be from that awful hotel bed because I haven’t done anything strenuous since coming home. Getting old suxxxxx!!!

I saw the headline that the pope died this morning. It got me remembering the series about the Borgias when Rodrigo Borgia was angling to become Pope Alexander VI. I know it’s not a perfectly historical drama, but I imagine the politics involved in getting elected was accurate to a degree. Makes me wonder what’s going on in the upper echelons of the Catholic church today.

Anyway, forward!

Happy Moanday!

Good mornin’ y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 62 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 85 and cloudy. RDOS inactivities are indeed the order of the day at da cave. Stuff needs to be done, but today ain’t the day. Tonight is men’s night over to the church house, so we’ll go over early as is our wont, and do prep stuff.

doggio that is brilliant! Moanday is my trash day and it can be anytime from seven a.m. until who knows. However, usually the truck comes by before noon. No problem for us as the biiiiiig trash can gets hauled all the way down to the road on Sunday night.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. On vacation. Much like FCM, I shall go to Aldi today. But unlike FCM, I shall not be picking up any rugrats. It is currently 65 degrees Ferret Height(18.3 Centipedes), and the high is supposed to be 82.
Carpe Caffeine!

Like the title!
We have bins out back. The truck comes Mondays and Thursdays to empty.
I have 2 bus passes left. Hoping for a lottery win or I’ll be staying home from now on.

Trash day is Wednesday here, so bins go out Tuesday night. Ideally only one of us has rehearsal, so the other puts them out. That hasn’t been working out lately, so it’s usually me getting home at 10:30 and still having to deal with trash.

It’s a normal Monday for me, which means teaching ten to six, then rehearsal. On the other hand, the Pope died, which may trigger a last-minute call for a memorial mass. No idea how that’s going to play out. We were supposed to have a week and a half off. Maybe they’ll take pity on us and just use cantors.

Monday is trash pickup day here. Usually, the regular trash bin gets entrucked (my computer doesn’t think that’s a word) early, and the recycle bin gets entrucked around mid-day. The recycle stuff will be reborn, not 3 days later, but eventually. Our local trash company’s guy was asked on TV news if recycle-stuff really gets recycled. He pointed at a huge bale of it, and said, “That bale is worth (large amount of money.) There’s no way it’s going to the landfill.”

Yesterday, we went to Easter dinner at my nephew’s house. I presented the Red Rubber Nose to my great-grand-nephew. By the end of the day, he was already making a joke with it. He stuck it on his nose, and he faked a sneeze, which knocked the nose off.

The news of Pope Francis’s death has me looking on as an outsider. I’m not a Catholic. I’m barely a Christian. Still, I liked the guy. I presume this is the end for “Francis,” the comic strip built around the Pope’s gentle sense of humor.

Good morning all. First day of my 73rd circuit of the sun may begin with rain in the afternoon and evening, it will cool things down a bit, but need to get shopping and sammich done early and hope gym time finishes before the rain starts. Soccer practice is definitely in jeopardy. So just another Moanday morning.

My trash day is Thursday, I’m usually an ‘every-other-week’ person, it takes me that long to get the bin properly full and since it’s in my garage I don’t have to worry about the elements. Recycle bin is picked up on the third Thursday each month, so atleast they can go out at the same time.

doggio, nice song. Do your guys still have to heave it or do they have to automatic grabbers and dumpers on the trucks now?

Hey 2bob, nice to see you around again.

Hippie, hope the repairs are not too extreme.

Pavo, yeah, a Pope passing is a big deal, stay flexible on your schedule.

And that’s all for the early report. Have a great week all.

Trash pickup is on Monday here as well. The bins can go out any time after 5 pm the night before.
Recycling usually gets picked up in the late morning, and trash not until the afternoon or even later. I’ve seen them come around at 7pm.
Nevertheless, at 5:01 pm every Sunday, Mrs W begins to stress about having to get the trash out to the curb right now. She acknowledges that this is a sickness of hers; however, it is a benign sickness, and I have trained myself to refrain from commenting.

I am currently enjoying a mediocre airport breakfast on my back to New Orleans. I apparently triggered one of the drug dogs at security, so I got my carry-on bag all pawed through. Lovely. No offense to Shoe and JtC and others who may indulge, but I never touch the stuff. Dunno why I got singled out.

But I was still early enough to get a sit-down brekkie, and boarding begins in 15 minutes. There are benefits to being chronically early! (I guess I do share a bit of Mrs W’s sickness…)

We have both garbage and recycling pickup on Tuesdays here.

I’m up earlier than usual. I have sleeping problems and usually get up later than I’d like. I’m tired. I think I’ll have some coffee.

Betting odds

We had deep theological discussion on whether Spot’s name was proper. considering he is neither orange, nor likely to have kittens and turn into an iguana, and whether Chicken Parm is Kosher.

The City has the autograbbers, but some private company’s still have the classic version.

Last time I got singled out by TSA, my bag contained 200 puck shaped bottle openers, a gold lamé tube top, and a stolen Jack In the Box tray.

Sounds like you really know how to party.

That pretty much guarantees that you’ll get rain.

Happy Dyngus day!

Many sympathies to our practicing RC Mumpers on the passing of Pope Francis. Even as a lapsed Catholic / current heathen, I kind of liked the guy. I hope that the church selects someone on the more progressive side to replace him.

I have my ortho appointment this afternoon. I’m going to try to drive my car (sets much lower than Sis’) to see how I am getting in and out of it.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

As there is a communal set of trash bins, I don’t have to worry about which day the trash is picked up. Just when the compost (every Friday), paper (once a month) and cardboard (once a month) is picked up. I have the app and have it set to remind me the evening before about the scheduled pick ups.

Glass, metal, etc. has to be taken to the recycling center. This is Switzerland, so there are rules. Paragraphs full of them.

Today’s a holidy in my canton, as it’s a Catholic canton. I remember the church bells ringing out when Pope Francis was selected. I hope it doesn’t take too long to choose the next pope.

Went for a walk this morning and bought some groceries at the main train station since everything else is closed. Didn’t buy any cheep chocolate bunnies, because they only had milk, white and other non-dark chocolate. Did get a Easter cake (Osterfladen) for 50% off. That will be the end of those until next year’s batch.

Should do some more paper sorting - something more for the bin, right? Hubby’s taking care of the laundry, so I’ll have some clothes to put away later. At least the kitchen’s cleaned up.

Garbage recycle day is Wednesday. Recycle guy comes early, around 7:30. Garbage guy ambles through the neighborhood and gets here sometime after noon. Taking out the garbage is my most hated chore.

Or at least a case of the shingles.
