Spring Has Unsprung- A Chilly MMP

unknown, I have a floss box + a shoe box of floss from when I did more needle work. I still do a little embroidery or needlepoint, but mostly dig it out for papercraft projects. For that purpose, fine tuned colors aren’t quite as important. :looks in floss box: Yep, there’s a bobbin of 3346 in there. :stuck_out_tongue:

How dare they mess with a classic Bloody silenus! :clutched pearls:

Of COURSE there is!!! I’m the only one who doesn’t have a bobbin of it because I’m the dumbass who bought a jerkface kitten. There will be NO catnip for at least a week, that’ll show them.

Wait to do that until the housekeepers have been there and cleaned-maybe they will find it.

Or ask your cafe owner to bring out a hank of it when she comes out to pick up her concierge cream cheese. She’s driving out anyway.

Or PM me your mailing address and I’ll hop into Joann’s on my way home from grandson sitting tomorrow and I’ll mail you some. The post office is only a block away from Joann’s and neither would take me out of my way. Spending the gas anyhow.

ETA: checked, my Joann’s has dmc 3346 in stock (we don’t have any independent locally owned fabric/fiber arts stores left).

Thank you so much for the very kind offer, it was very sweet of you to offer. Mom has said that she was mailing me a package tomorrow, so her thread will be included.

I also have my big ol’ bin of unused threads and flosses and of course I didn’t have any there. It seems as though everyone, including my rotten cats has that floss or could easily put their hands on it but me. FML!!!

OK, pity party is over, moving on. I can work other parts of the piece, but they still don’t get catnip for a week. Or until I forget that I’m mad at them which could come sooner.

Stay tuned for part two, when a few years later the elusive bag of thread reappears and I go crazy trying to figure out which current project it goes with because I will have forgotten all about this by then.

Mention it here~FCM or nellie will remember.

Up from nappage. Dinner was bacon cheeseburgers with fries and Cajun seasoned corn.

Make a Clue by Four with the CNC machine in the shop?

Nah, keep posting.

Well, per the CBA, anything over 5.5 hours is overtime. So it pays more.

Yeah, young folks don’t have much of a chance in the bidding wars, especially when there are cash buyers out there. Many of the comps she showed us went for $25-$50K over asking.

OTOH, good for you, extra money at our age is always a good thing. I’m sorry that I didn’t congrat you on your tidy profit before. Your home wouldn’t have gone up nearly that much if you hadn’t taken so much care of it while it was in your hands, so you should feel some pride over that.

I’ve read about how hard Lucille Ball had to work to be klutzy on I Love Lucy. Not to brag, but I come by it honestly. Today I made my semi-famous sloppy joes to freeze for when my sister gets here. She LOVES sloppy joes. The ground beef was supposedly 93% lean. Ha! I was draining fat from the pan to a can on the counter when I lost my grip and grease splashed onto the burner. (I have a glass top stove.) Luckily, no fire, and pyro-phobic me didn’t panic. I threw water on the grease on the glass top so it wouldn’t burn before the burner cooled Then I turned on a fan. The smoke detectors here scare the snot out of me, but luckily, they didn’t go off.

Then at the gym, a guy was doing squats in front of a rack of big exercise balls, so I tried to sneak behind the rack to put my mat away. Oops. Exercise balls rolled everywhere. It was like Bowling for Gym Rats. :scream:

BooFae, how’s Ophelia doing? Hoping she sailed through. Everyone’s posting that they’re glad she came through OK, but I can’t find the post that says she did.

sunny, sorry your dad is being so…difficult. Has he been evaluated for early-stage dementia? I’m VERY sorry he called you names. Even though he’s obviously not quite himself, that must have been hurtful.

MetalMouse: $500? Yikes. Times have changed:

Me in 1975: Dad, why do you only charge $50 for a will when all the other attorneys charge $75?

Dad: My clients can’t afford to pay $75.

Hope the will process went smoothly. Bet you felt great getting into comfier garb.

Moooom, Toby is legit gorgeous AND cute . That photo could be an ad in a glossy magazine.

shoe, yay for the Girls in Charge! Side note: You know you really ARE going to be in charge one day, right?

and 98 percent of those are house flippers

I heard rain.

It’s dark so I stepped outside to sniff the water falling from the sky.

I came back in and told Hubs that it was raining

Hubs pulled up the weather map on his comp to verify that it was raining.

I"m going to wait until Hubs takes his nap tomorrow and give all of the cats ALL of the catnip. Then I will go to the park and take a nice walk.

If you need anyone to send you catnip, let me know.

Hubs might just live after all. He shared this with me:

Totally amazing.

This person obviously does not have cats.

That really is amazing! I can’t imagine all the planning. Someone was a lot better at geometry than I was.

I envy you homeowners. If I still owned a house, I’d be grateful every single day. I had to flee the nightmare marriage and then the stalking. I foolishly thought if I let him buy out my share of the house for cheap, he’d leave me alone. Didn’t work. Now he has a beautiful new home, and I’m renting an apartment. Rent goes up as property values do, so there’s that, too.

But I do count my blessings, including the end of the stalking, cyber and otherwise. And I’m not on the verge of destitution or anything, for which I’m VERY grateful.

Nice stuff. Those ribs are really impressive.

I hope that doesn’t happen - flying wood is dangerous.

I thought most phones have a flashlight function. At least enough to find proper lighting.

Not sure if that’s a promise or a threat.

Weather’s turning back to winter, just as the magnolias started blooming. Seems unfair - they are so gorgeous.

On the train to work - means I can catch up on this week’s MMP.

My mom’s doing pretty good, for just one week after knee replacement. She feels it, if she doesn’t move once every 60-90 minutes.

Hugs for those with sick parents - I know I’m lucky that parents are in relatively good health.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. And re tape. [quote=“JaneDoe42, post:53, topic:961821”]

Or spends $5377 a day on catnip.

Normal companies with mission critical power needs: buy generator with transfer switch, mounted to concrete pad.
Brown: buys generator mounted in 3 axle trailer, keeps it in extra trailer lot on other side of road. (Note to species: Stop putting survivors from the B Ark in charge of things)

You probably always will, if genetics plays a hand. His daddy manages a little growth on his chin, but not much else.

Hah - don’t dare count on me! I have enough of an issue remembering that guy who was in that movie about that thing with the other guy that time…

Did you happen to see 60 Minutes recently? They were interviewing a real estate investor from Canada who was buying up houses in Florida, sight unseen for cash to turn into rental properties because the rental market is so lucrative. Rents are so stupid high, it’s pretty much impossible for an average person to be able to save towards a down payment on their own place, and these days, a down payment isn’t going to do it. You need cash in hand. It’s insane! And it’s not just in FL, but anywhere rentals are in demand.

For some stupid reason, I’m really nervous about this boat move. I lie in bed thinking about what we should do if the boat starts sinking… We’ve owned 5 sailboats, plus some smaller vessels and we’ve never had one sink. I’ve never worried about our first trip in any of them. But this time, I’m imagining all sorts of disasters. Stoopit brain. I’m sure it has to do with having the grands aboard. I’m still kinda ticked at FCD for inviting them without discussing it with me first. It’ll be fine, right?

It’s 23-stoopit-degrees here this morning. OK, who stole spring?? Oh, yeah, and day after tomorrow, we’re getting mid-70s. Looks like Saturday’s crossing is going to be in 40s/50s, so I don’t see us going out on deck till we arrive at Spring Cove. Guess we’ll find out if the boat’s heater really does work. Meanwhile, I had to break into the last ton of pellets yesterday - here’s hoping we don’t use more than a dozen bags from here on out.

Yeah, yeah, Happy Tuesday.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 48 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 83 and N.O.S. for the day. Today is laundry day and I shall accomplish mowage today. That needs to happen before Thursday as we are supposed to get rained on then, We shall have a late N.O.L./early sup at the hog trough Golden Corral just cause.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Blokie booked us separate appointments, about 10 minutes apart, through the same system. They only do one person at a time. I got a text from them with a link to the waiting room and instructions to be logged in there 10 minutes before my appointment time. When I logged in, it showed me how many “advisors” were currently available, I just had to sit and wait for one of them to log onto me. Then we went through the steps and that was it. As long as you’ve got a decent stable internet connection, it works just fine.

nelliebly yes, Ophelia got through her surgery easily and they only had to take three teeth out. The vet was giving me dire warnings that it might be more, but it turned out to be quite a simple procedure. She was a bit spaced out for the afternoon but once she’d had another long sleep, she perked up and had some food.

unknown thanks for the tip - we still have some of the Encore food in broth that we bought to tempt Shadow when he was off his food. Ophie was quite happy to slurp that up yesterday, and had some more this morning with her pain meds on it. Since then, she’s been into my office and shoved her face in the bowl of food here so she’s definitely feeling more like herself. The vet said soft food for a couple of days before we reintroduce hard biscuits, but she hasn’t shown any interest in the biscuits that we’ve got available to the other two cats.

shoe your DAM sounds like he provides you with plenty of entertainment, and of course he should realise already that it’s the girls who run the place!

Sunny so sorry to hear about your dad, that sounds like a huge worry for you and your mum. One of my colleagues has a step-dad who is currently being treated for dementia, they had a proper battle getting him into treatment in the first place despite numerous falls at home. The last one resulted in an all-out fight to get him to hospital with a potentially broken hand, but fortunately once he was there, the dementia team sprang into action and he’s now getting the tests and treatment he needs.

Not a very exciting day today, I have a list of things I don’t want to do but I have to do them. And this afternoon there’s a career development panel discussion that I apparently have to attend. No idea why, since my career has progressed as far as I want it to!

I didn’t, but we were talking about that yesterday. I’m hoping that the amount of required landscaping maintenance will put off someone like that, although I suppose a buy-to-rent investor could just have all the plantings ripped out and put grass back in, which would be a real shame. Rent in this neighborhood is generally pretty high, but there have been quite a number of rabbit-warren buildings put up to accommodate demand, which I would think would lower the demand for stand-alone rental homes.

This house was flipped back in about 2004, so I don’t see that happening unless a developer tears it down and puts up a duplex.
