Spring Has Unsprung- A Chilly MMP

Morning all. Woke up early (at least for me) and got the rest of the garbage into the can and moved to the curb; which of course means the garbage gang won’t be by until 2-3pm…At least all the rain is out of the system, dry is the forecast for today, but a high of only 60F, more than 20F cooler than yesterday. Pedal and Metal at the gym today.

Bat boy, hope you’re doing well, just when we think this plague is over…will try and book my 2nd booster shot today in remembrance.

FCM, sounds like a plan…constanly changing. Hope the school gets cleared for Roxy.

doggio, yeah, I rather hope the big bosses can see through the clown show–after all, they came up from the lower management so they probably did the same things…

Unknown, I’m grinning widely here. I can hardly wait to hear about your testimony as a witness, if it gets that far. Important lesson learned; never interrupt a woman when she’s COUNTING, GODDAMMIT!!! And sadness for your Mom; one of the reasons I keep coaching soccer and doing stuff is the stimulation.

OK, need to break my fast and then finish the Great April Shopping List, don’t know if I’ll do it today or tomorrow, but it will get done. All y’all have a good Thorsday.

I love most seafood, but I just can’t take oysters, raw, steamed, fried, stewed, no way. I don’t think it’s a mental thing - I just don’t like the smell.

FCD is back - the guy at the collision shop said he doesn’t think they’ll total it because of the crazy prices of used cars these days. So there’s that. I should be getting the estimate a little later today.

Jeans in the dryer, shirts in the washer, pellet stove is clean. No word about Roxy or Toby yet, so it’s nice and quiet here. FCD is still thinking about doing the move tomorrow. We need to hear from the boat yard that they’ve figure out what was acting up yesterday. So we shall see, shan’t we?

Yesterday, I 1.) was officially promoted to “Team Lead” and 2.) was sent home early because business was slow.

Why’d I bother with makeup?

Couldn’t even get Gentleman Caller to console me, as he’s having car troubles.

But it’s chilly and raining, so - because I’m a weirdo - I had the windows open, and slept like a dead creature.

I cannot wait for the sunshine; we had a delightful false spring last week and now it’s back to the 30s & 40s F. Ick. This afternoon’s run/walk is gonna be unfortunate - cold and grey.

Anywho, employee has stopped ignoring me. The issue was that I refused to attend a meeting on Monday that she forwarded me at 1 a.m. Friday morning. We talked today and I explained (again) that unless something is a big emergency, I can’t ask the Muckety Mucks to move a meeting, especially when no one has bothered to figure out what it’s for and the guy who could tell me is out of the office. Apparently me declining it caused a bit of a ruckus.

The meeting was rescheduled to today so we’ll see what kind of hot mess I get myself into.

Edited to add: Congratulations, shoe!!!

I’ve got both kids - Roxy’s school was closed for the day. Someone broke into the office and some of the teachers are now spooked. What kind of jerk breaks into a tiny little preschool?? sheesh

Correction: it is currently snowing again. I’ve given up, shut the windows, and clicked the heat back on.

The world became a better place on this day all those years ago.

It would be kinda nice if this shit stopped happening for a while. Poor lil Toby, kids don’t get being sick.

It would be kinda nice if this hadn’t happened to you as well. Just when you thought you were safe…
I hope it’s a fast, easy case with no long term effects.

I remember being there a few times in my working life. I usually liked my work just fine, it was the people who were the issue.

Thanks again to everyone for the encouragement, I do feel sort of bad for the constable. I’m sure he’s a very nice young man who was just trying to do his job to the best of his ability. I’m not usually that crabby, but I was COUNTING GODDAMNIT!!! and anyone with any sense knows to not bother someone who’s doing something like that.

I am really surprised that things seem to be moving this quickly, I wasn’t expecting to hear anything for a couple more months at least.

Of course I will be at the trial, I even have my clothes picked out to emphasize the part that I’m a defenseless, crippled, little, old woman. I’m dithering about if I should bring my kitty sweater or a light jacket with pockets. The kitty sweater is more old womanish than the jacket, but those courtrooms are cold.

We kinda doubt this will actually go to trial, they might go as far as to start jury selection but many times the person in trouble suddenly realizes that things are really happening and that things could go south very quickly so asks about a plea bargain while the judge has sent everyone off for lunch. Hubs thinks I should go and sit in the courtroom during jury selection where the jerk can see me.

Congrats for the promotion, shoe. I hope the extra responsibility comes with extra money!

I went to surplus produce this morning and was silently disappointed by what was in our box today. After last week’s box full of lovely produce, I wasn’t prepared to go back to a bag each of onions, apples and potatoes and a bunch of packaged stuff. I am not ungrateful, we can always use about half of what they give us, I just really do love the random produce.

It’s around 60F now and warming up. I’m probably going to spend the afternoon out on the back porch just because I can. I know the yard flock won’t bother me when I’m counting

Just popped in because I realized I neglected a very important date…Happy Birthday, shady!!!

I had an app called IIRC ‘FindMyPhone’. Daughter, Son-in-law and I spent 3+ hours that night fighting our way through password hell and ‘we’re sending a security code to your phone for you to enter on your computer’ hell before we got it to tell us that my phone was last ‘seen’ at Point S Tire and Auto 8 hours ago, which was correct. I was at Point S Tire and Auto at 2 pm getting my studded tires switched back over to my regular ‘summer’ tires.
We went over there and looked around just in case, but it wasn’t there. In other words, ‘FindMyPhone’ was a total waste of time.

Side rant:
The state of Orygun, in their infinite bureaucratic wisdom, has signs up all over the mountain pass I routinely drive through saying ‘Snow Zone. Carry Chains or Traction Tires’
These signs will stay up all winter until the state decides it’s no longer dangerous to drive in those areas, usually somewhere around the end of April or sometime in May, but the state also says that I must remove my studded tires by the end of March or, if caught, face a fine. It’s about $200.00. In a rational world those two dates would be tied together, but not in the ‘minds’ of state bureaucrats.
They should all find themselves upside down in a car in a snowy ditch.

Preach it sister!

Most likely you just gave him a great story to tell back at the office.

Yeah, my first raw oyster was also my last. Someone once said that eating a raw oyster was like getting to know someone really, really well.

Wifey has gone back ‘over the hill’ to the old house for a closing and to get her studded tires swapped off of her car, and some other misc. stuff. So I’m left alone here with the doggos for a couple of days. I think I’ll put on some outside clothes and walk to the post office and the grocery store to see if they have any good soup in the deli. I also need to stop in to the doctors office and see what time my appointment is this afternoon. That information was on my phone, dammit!

Deep breathes.

Oh! and Happy Birthday, Shady!!!

Afternoon all. The Great April Shopping Trip has been completed, the refrigerator and larder are full and my wallet is empty of about $170. This month’s store was Wal-Mart (I rotate between Wal-Mart, Kroger and Publix) and managed to avoid the temptation of the Cheese Balls…which is due to my current addiction to Graham Crackers. Not sure which is worse for me, but I’m probably going to have to cut them both out if I hope to keep the weight down.

Was going to get my 2nd Booster today at Wal-Greens, but after running all the paperwork it turns out they were out of vaccine. So will check back tomorrow…it’s not a rush job. Also will try and get the eye appointment set on my way to the gym in about an hour.

Bumba, shoe, got a friend taking an old Winnebago back to Chicago, he was trapped in Wall, SD due to high winds and frozen roads, so I guess winter isn’t over in some places (51F here, which is cold for N. Ali-bama).

Bring the cane with you…

FCM, why people do anything is a a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma…no , wait, that’s Russia…

talky, hope the meeting (whichever one it is) goes well.

shoe, congrats on the Team Lead designation, does it come with more dollars?

I’m with the rest of the MMP’ers, the next oyster I eat will be…my first, and only under the most serious duress.

OK, really do need to get dressed and head over to the gym if I want to burn off the Graham Crackers I just finished. Take care all.

The kind that hopes to steal electronics (iPads, tablets, laptops, phones, etc) that they can sell for quick cash. Plus any petty cash perhaps laying around. These are not great thinkers or planners. Same kind of petty burglary that happens to church offices. Plus, both kinds of places tend to not have hardened security because so many clients and staff go in and out every day.

Bring the cane with you…Great idea! :joy::rofl::joy::rofl::joy:

No need. His attorney will have gotten the witness list with you on it from the prosecutors and his lawyer will advise him to take a plea once they see your name.

Even better would be if you could take a couple of big burly mean looking dudes with you.

:frowning:

oysters are ok my weakness is fried clams … that’s the one thing I miss from long john silvers leaving town is their fried clams I would actually buy them by the pound …and thanks …for the birthday wishes

Happy Birthday!!!

BatBoy Feel better soonest. Elbow bump of solidarity.

Moomm I think your plan of a quick, simple crossing is best. Fingers crossed FCD sees the light.

teela I’ve been curious about that movie. I may finally watch it.

Metal Mouse I’ve been meaning to ask which cruise you are taking in May. Antartica cruises are usually Dec/Jan, so is this something else?

Congrats on promotion. Didya get a raise? Did you eat? I worry. I’m a worrier.

I hate the IRS. I really, really do. They can’t find our tax return for 2020, which is holding up our re-fi. If you call, you route through the most ridiculous menus and pray that you’ve selected the right choices because the words may be English but they make no sense. 20 minutes later, you are informed that there are no agents and then disconnected. So I dig around online. I can’t log into my online IRS account after an hour because their freakin’ system says my account doesn’t match my information. ?! The fix is to submit a help ticket. I’m sure someone will get right on that. I’m going to the accountant this afternoon to see if they can somehow find things online to fix this.

My husband is now repeating everything I did. I want a kitten. And a puppy.

Sunny, the one in May is to Alaska with a group of friends I made years ago with through the James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF) and their message boards; one of them is a travel agent and they’ve been putting together trips like this for 30-40 of us for years; this will be our first group outing since 2019.

And you are right, my Antarctica trip is in February 2023, so I have a little time to plan for that one.

Good luck with the IRS.

So we’re back to spending the night aboard tomorrow and leaving early Sat. There’s a bad water pump aboard - not something to prevent us going except that it’s located in a really bad spot for FCD to fix, so we’re hoping they can get a pump installed tomorrow. If not, we’ll have it done at our marina. But the family won’t be going with us because they’re all sick to one degree or another.

We’ll take our truck to our marina tomorrow, then head to Oxford in the afternoon, unload and organize the boat, attempt to sleep, then we’ll head out Saturday morning. Tomorrow will be about packing and driving. And leaving Higgs with our daughter. Forgot to talk to her about that.

For now, I need to decide what to do about supper.

I vote for making yourself a superhero costume, complete with cape. On the front could be stylized cane with lightning bolts and shit, and underneath it just the word THUMP! in jaggedy letters.

Happy birthday Shady!

Spring has definitely de-sprung here today; we had a brief snow shower around 5 pee em- the most snow we’ve had all winter. It was t-shirt weather last week. I’m supposed to be going camping in 2 weeks, so I really hope it warms up again

I think I deserve a gold star for procrastination today, I managed to do absolutely nothing useful, while somehow being busy all day. I have a very dull essay to just finish off- seriously, it’s like a 15 minute job, all I need to do is finish the references for the last f… ooh! Squirrel!
