All the info I’ve been getting from Royal Caribbean makes me feel quite comfortable cruising with them. From what I’ve read., they’ve really taken it very seriously.
FCD should be home within the hour. Apparently there were a couple of issues they need to address - there was some sort of leak in the fresh water system, and a burning odor coming from the engine room. The pros will go over all of it tomorrow. It’s weird, because at least the engine wasn’t stinky when we did sea trials in December. Anyway, we’ll see what they find.
Just had some soup - now I’ll pour a beverage and reassume the reading position.
Feel better soonest taters! I’ll join the chorus of telling you to take another day if needed.
bumba, you likely wouldn’t come close to some of the phone claim returns that I’ve seen over the years and I never even worked production until this past year. For example, we’ve had several that have come in in a zippy with animal excrement over the years, some that are just plain 'sploded and some in a zippy with (from the smell of it) swamp water. We see chew marks on them and the CSRs at the call center actually compare stories about the reasons for claims.
sari, if you have an Aldi nearby, check out the Aldi website. You can have it InstaCarted and I can guarantee that you won’t be paying highway robbery prices for saltines (I buy their version of whole wheat Ritz for $2.19 a box of 4 sleeves).
Irked and talked to one of my former reconcilers. He moved up in the department and was asked to assist with reconciliations for a while since they were backed up and two (of three) reconcilers down. Golden Girl moved up to the data analyst in the department but apparently doesn’t like showing up for irk on a regular basis and the third guy who took my place quit (surprise, surprise!). The senior manager of the department is back from deployment and talked to me last week. I showed a little class and didn’t dis anyone, but he was asking some very pointed questions about the current management team. I have a feeling that Justin was sent to get the real scoop. I did let him know that I would love to work with senior manager again in the future, but not with the current management team. Who knows? Meanwhile, there is talk of buyouts for longterm employees, given our loss of a major client and if it is offered / worth my while, I’ll take it.
It hit 84F this afternoon with small dog alerts and storm warnings.
Howdy Y’all! We laid in provisions this mornin’ and then proceeded to hone our sloth skills until time to nuke the leftovers for sup. I got the server schedule sent out and so far no whines. We shall see what tomorrow brings. Tomorrow brings nasty weather in the mornin’ accordin’ to TWPTB and nice weather in the after. Again, we shall see.
Juliet welcome back. I thought I caught the scent of roses. Is that not what Romeo said? Sump’n bout how Juliet smelled like roses?
Evening all. Got my walk in at the park, but the wind was blowing something fierce and hasn’t stopped yet. The storm is due any minute now and the real nasty stuff should be about an hour behind. Looks like rain from New Orleans to Chicago on the national radar, so Red and shoe are probably getting wet about now. Glad I have no reason to be outside now (trash will go out to the curb tomorrow morning).
Juliet, it’s nice to meet you; hope you can stick around and get to know the rest of the crew, it’s a good bunch of folks.
OK, BLT’s have been assimilated and hatches have been battened, so just a quiet night with occasional tunder-boomers and the possibility of tornadoes…Springtime in Ali-bama.
So…
The CEO was visiting today(which explains the new office signage, and actually washing the package cars and cleanign things that had never been cleaned before), so TPTB were trying to keep things neat.
TPTB: “Don’t bring any rewraps or left behind items up front”
Other departments: < brings 5 carts of re wraps/left behinds >
TPTB: < panics, and parks a package car in front of the clerk station >
There was also 3 train carts of rewraps hidden in the far back. Including 10 boxes of wrecked Body Shop returns. But I got 4 hours of OT today, so I got that going for me. which is nice.
Nah, way to stick it to The Man!
My philosophy, too.

Always wssh your hands after playing with your meat.
Me, too. But I get a flu booster every year.
Welcome back!

Bumba, sorry about the phone. Do you have find-a-phone-service?
The wind has been very blowy here too, but at least it’s getting warmer.
The yard flock seems to be doubling every day now. We see a bunch of migrating birds during the spring and of course our home birds are very busy with the procreating as well. Our clover patch really liked the rain and I’ve been seeing bees at their water bowl.
Hub’s computer setup is going wonderfully, it’s a magic machine and he’s just as happy as can be. I’m pretty happy too, he can get even more whiny than me without even trying.
I called Mom tonight and she seems to have forgotten spending last winter with us. I try to gently remind her of things but the plague has stolen her mind. I’m glad we are going to the needlework convention in July. I plan to treasure every minute because I’m fairly sure our minutes together are running out quickly.
I like to sit in the back room and stitch, GG and VBC like to snooze on the bed. GG doesn’t really curl up that much, he tends to stretch out and he always has a paw or other body part touching VBC. VBC does curl up, but moves during her nap and will shift away from the paw. The bed is of a limited size and VBC sometimes ends up sleeping right on the edge.
Today she rolled over and fell off. I started laughing so hard that hubs could hear me despite his loud game, VBC got offended and jumped back up on the bed and slapped poor sleeping GG upside the head so hard I’m surprised he still has a tongue left. They weren’t talking until dinner serving time, everyone is friends when fud is being handed out.
Thanks. She was doing really well until she lost the constant mental stimulation she was used to. I call her every day and could hear her slipping into confusion about three months after the world ended.
My address is programed into her phone along with my number. Today she called me to ask for my address while she was at the post office. Sigh.
I’m getting adds to the project now, at 11:30 PM on the wednesday a week and a half from go date. Like, can you build us 6 boxes to cover the POS terminals in the space? Uhhhm maybe, if I can finish all the other stupid crap you’ve got me making.
Don’t last minute add-ons get charged double?!? They certainly should!!!
The way you were able to turn a white piece of wood into wood grain color was amazing, btw. I had no clue that was possible.
I think I just scared our local constable into rethinking his life choices. I was taking a complicated mistake out of my work when I heard and ignored the doorbell because I was counting. I heard hubs talk to someone and then call me. I yelled back “I’m counting” and kept paying attention to what I was doing. More voices in the living room and hubs called back to ask if I was almost done and I’M FUCKING COUNTING, WHAT’S SO FUCKING IMPORTANT, GODDAMNIT??? slipped out of my mouth. (I don’t talk to hubs like that, I was yelling at whoever it was that was bothering us. Had hubs thought it was important, he would have come back and told me what was going on.)
It was a really complicated mistake and if I miscounted taking it out, I was going to have to just pitch the entire thing and start over AND it was past 2100 and nobody should be bothering me anyhow.
I heard the door close and hubs start laughing until he started wheezing. I finished counting and came out to see what was going on.
Apparently I was being summoned to jerk’s assault case as a witness, signature requested but mostly he just had to put the summons in my hand. Of course the constable knew what had happened, reports of the abusive jerk getting thumped got around. The poor constable really didn’t want to face a crabby old woman who was COUNTING GODDAMNIT so dropped the paperwork on our front porch table and quickly took his leave.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurkkin out and rainin’ (big time!) with a predicted high of 80 and possibly mostly N.O.S. by mid to late afternoon. I think the rain started around four this mornin’. I woke up at five to go pee and just stayed up cause I feel all rested and such. Today is a good day for sloth and bein’ inside and dry. We shall either swipe The General’s sup or go to the not too shabby Chinese hog trough buffet place around fiveish. Weather should be cleared up by then.
Unknown HEE! Constable probably thought, that’s THE CANE so I best not mess with her.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,
Reminds me of my Navy days when some big mucky-muck was due in for an inspection. All the bad stuff was hidden and everything was sunshine and lollipops. Surely TPTB know how it works and don’t buy the BS displays. Frankly, had I been a mucky-muck, I’d show up unannounced to see how things really were!
Well, this weekend’s plans just completely changed. Toby is sick - fever last night, plus coughng and sneezing. I’m going to talk to FCD about doing the move tomorrow and being done with it. We shall see…
Normally I don’t get sick all that often, and when I do it’s usually mild and short lived. I wouldn’t say I’m healthy, or genetically resistant, it’s the social isolation I prefer that probably contributes most to it.
So now I have a job. I have to commute on public transport every day. And I have new colleagues I am in close contact with throughout the days, three of whom caught Covid this past couple of weeks, and I am just the latest to succumb. It wouldn’t surprise me if the whole staff get it soon.
I got tested today, the results will be sent tomorrow, but Occam’s Razor, that would in normal times say think common cold, not plague, in this day and age would now say the most likely is zebras, and not horses.
I’m fully vaccinated etc, so it shouldn’t be too bad, but I expect it will be an uncomfortable week. Bleargh.
It’s currently 41 degrees with an expected high of around 52 and mostly cloudy with some sun breaks.
I am feeling almost back to normal, so that’s a good thing. My patience meter was very low yesterday and I had many conversations with myself about things that I found stupid, silly, or just plain made me more prickly because I was already feeling that way. Fortunately, those conversations were with me, at home with the computer camera and mic turned off and not during any active Teams meeting.
I was hoping to get through the week without going to the office, but a peer contacted me yesterday and he’s in town. He wants to pay a visit to my office, so I’ll meet him there. At least it’ll be my short day.
I’m sorry the boat thing is turning into such a major pain, FCM. I hope that FCD agrees to your revised plan. I think that would greatly simplify things for you both and it would probably be faster.
Sari, I hope things go the right way today.
Happy Birthday, nighshadea!
I hope that jerk gets some real solid jail time, Jane!
I have too much on my work calendar today, so I fear I won’t be as productive as I’d like. We shall see. At any rate, I suppose I should get on with the day. I need to tidy up the kitchen before heading upstairs to dig into the latest ashes from a fire somewhere.
Well, that sucketh mightily! Hope it’s mild and quick with no lasting effects. Meanwhile, I think I’ll continue wearing a mask out there…
Someone broke into Roxy’s school yesterday, so till the police clear the building, she’s at home. Crimiiny, what’s up with people??? So I don’t know when SIL will bring Toby here and if Roxy will be with him. We shall see.
Meanwhile, I boiled some eggs, thinking I’d take them tomorrow - maybe I’ll devil them for us. And I’ve got a load of jeans in the washer. I’m about to clean the pellet stove.
I’m sorry you got the bug, GuanoLad. Hope it’s over with soonest and that it counts as a booster.
I posted elsewhere that I’ve eaten my last raw oyster. I love love oysters, but they do a number on my intestines. I was sick all day yesterday; I felt like I had taken the prep for a colonoscopy. I’m back to normal today, but oysters and me are officially divorced.
I recorded and have halfway watched Once Upon A Time . . . in Hollywood. I’m marveling at how well the movie has captured 1960s southern California (where I was born and raised). They seem to have gotten the lead-up to the Manson murders straight so far. I dislike overly violent movies, so I might stop watching when things get bloody. I’ve never watched a Tarantino film before, and I know he loves his bloodbaths.
