I seem to be the only one amongst my friends that enjoyed the first Spy Kids. It was hokey, it was fun, it was silly, and over the top, and I liked it. When I heard they were making a sequel, I was excited, and the first couple trailers I saw made me anxious for its release. But, the more I see, the more I think this is going to be a bit TOO over the top to be any good. I fear it will suffer the same fate as Austin Powers, meaning they’ll take a wonderfully original idea, flush it down the toilet, and make a huge pile of crap with the sequel. I still want to see it, and I’m sure I’m going to, I just want some encouragement that I’m not just going to throw my money away (of course, this is the guy who saw Jason X twice in theaters, so…). Anyone else looking forward to/dreading this movie’s release?
I predict…I need to rent Spy Kids 1 first!!!
I thought the effects in the latest trailer sucked. Every creature they have to fight looks completely fake. They should have kept it simpler.
Yeah, the original Spy Kids didn’t take itself to seriously and you could tell the actors/actresses seemed to be enjoying themselves. The whole movie was just plain family fun.
The sequel looks like it tried to really out do the original and it looks like it is going to fall short if they rely to heavily on the special effects, monsters and gagdets.
I loved Spy Kids!
