Crunchy Frog, Palandine, Kunilou & Mrs. Kunilou, schief2, DynoSaur and I all got together Saturday night for a couple of drinks and conversation. I had fun! It was great to meet some fellow dopers and sit by the fire for some nice conversation. I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t any wild, drunken debauchery or tales of nudity and dancing on the bar but I think everyone is saving that for next time!
Oh, Miss B. Haven, I feel so bad for this thread falling into ignominy this way.
Things we learned at the St. Louis DopeFest:
- Mrs. Kunilou won’t share her pain medication
- Crunchy Frog stays crunchy in Coke.
- The Fox and Hounds has the world’s most uncomfortable couches.
I’m sure I’ll think of more later…
Yipes! Somehow this thread completely sank before I even noticed it the first time.
I would hasten to add:
-
Was I the only one who thought there a sort of vaguely creepy, separated-at-birth resemblance between Crunchy Frog and DynoSaur?
-
My favorite quote of the evening: “You know, blah blah blah BLOW JOB blah blah blah.” – Miss B. Haven (That’s almost sig material, Miss B. ;))
-
Since I was gracious enough to come St. Louis for a DopeFest, I presume you’ll all return the favor if/when there’s ever a MO’Dope bash in Columbia, yes?
-
For the last time, I apologize for talking everyone’s ear off. I’ll shut up next time. I promise.
I guess I should say something here.
First of all, I apologze that there are no pics of this gathering. I don’t own a camera and I don’t know what everyone else’s excuse is.
I was there at about 7:00ish. All by myself. No one else around at all. Not even Palandine, who said she’d be ther early cuz she only lives 2 miles away. Just me. Finally others started to show up and the drinking was underway. Not for long for me though, because as Dyno and I soon learned, it cost about $25 for two beers and a rum and coke.
Studying the bill, I saw there was a $10 service charge for serving the drinks. I guess that’s because holding the mug under the tap and pulling the lever is much more difficult than it sounds and warrants that sort of pay. I’m surprised they didn’t charge for the lemon wedge.
So after drinking a bit and squirming on a couch so uncomfortable it could’ve have been some sort of medievil torture device (BTW, thanks for the backrubs Miss B), we got a little hungry and went to a Steak N Shake to eat.
This is where we learned I stay crunchy in Coke. The waitress spilled a glass on me. I blame Palandine, cuz had she just accepted the refill of Coca Cola (didn’t have to drink it, just accept it) it wouldn’t have been on the tray and found it way into my lap. I think it was Dyno Saur (but I’m not positive) who said my favorite quote of the night: “That’s okay, he was gonna shower in Coke when he got home anyway, you just saved him some time.” Or something like that, I do’t remebmber the exact words.
So lessons learned for the next DopeFest – bring cameras, wear a raincoat at Steak N Shake.
Oh. I guess I should put an appearance here, too.
OK, no pics from me because I don’t have a camera. Plus, things were done that should never be allowed to be seen by other eyes. Really. I swear.
And I think the $10 charge was for the waitress prancing around in the little plaid skirt, Crunchy. Not that I’m complaining, of course.
I can’t speak to the couches, I was in the cool chair with the rotating back.
And, yeah, schief2…shut the hell up. You talk too goddamn much. Christ, if you had only been wearing really ugly clothes, you would have seemed just like part of the couch.
And, Crunchy, it’s not like I spent all night making smartass comments or anything. Glad you liked -one- of them.
As for -my- favorite quote (in the taken-completely-out-of-context category)…after I had bitched about the unnecessarily large AMOCO sign, I believe it was Paladine who said, “Wow, that is -really- big.”
Anyway, in the end, a good time was had by all. Or, at least me.
Thanks Palandine! I was starting to wonder if anyone was going to show up… I love #2… Crunchy, you could add that to your sig!
schief2, thanks for the quote! I’ll let you use it as your sig as long as you quit talking so much!
Crunchy, are you gonna wear anything under that raincoat? There’s a Steak N Sheak just around the corner…
Dyno, you… a smart ass? nooooo!!!
I had a marvelous time. After meeting some of you it’s good to know I’m not the only insufferable know-it-all around. I may actually decide to list some personal information about myself somewhere.
Mrs. Kunilou also had a wonderful time. Of course she was having a wonderful time throughout the entire holiday weekend as long as the pain medicine held out. Then she’d reload and have a wonderful time for another four hours.
The only thing that spoiled the evening was that schief just wouldn’t SHUT UP.
