Two nights ago, five people were stabbed to death at a party in Calgary to celebrate the end of the university term:
The five students killed in Calgary’s worst murder have been identified
Then, at supper hour yesterday in the main downtown mall in Regina, four people were stabbed: 4 hurt in stabbings at Regina mall, youth in custody . At the moment, it sounds as if none were fatalities.
This follows on the episode in Pennsylvania, which is already the basis for a thread.
What’s happening? Where did stabbing suddenly come from as the rampage du jour?
Easier to get knives?
Is there a new slasher movie out?
News coverage copy cats?
15 minutes of fame & hate their lives or other peoples?
Prolly not allowed to play Cowboys & Indians or have a cap pistol when they were little so the aggression is all bottled up and finally consplods?
Other than that, I got nothin…
I got nothing, too - I can’t even begin to imagine why we would have two stabbings like this so close together.
The accused in the Calgary case is to charged with five counts of first degree murder. He’s said to have come to the party with a weapon, which I suppose may support “planning and deliberation,” for first degree.
Police spokesman says the crime scene was horrific.
Accused’s father is a senior officer with the Calgary Police Service, with 30+ years of service.
Accused has been sent for a psych assessment.

When guns are outlawed, only people with knives will kill people.
Let me just remark that no one in the Regina stabbing is dead and a guy with an assault rifle might have killed 20 or 30 in the same time.
And… There is no such thing as an assault rifle.

That FOX show The Following has a lot of stabbings.
Sometimes random things are just random things and only appear to have a pattern.
