Stan Lee's Funeral

I had a dream last night that I was attending Stan Lee’s funeral and it was like “Burning Man” for geeks. There were sky writers, pyrotechnics, and movie special effects everywhere.

The cosplay was professional costume level and had clearly been subsidized by Hollywood. Robots roamed the sidewalks offering Marvel embroidered handkerchiefs to the mourners. A couple of billionaires sent holograms of themselves to apologize for not being there personally.

Every parking spot for a five mile radius was taken up by either a Lamborghini, a handmade RV, or a fully transformed art car.

It was incredibly detailed; I’m actually kind of proud of my subconscious for coming up with all that.

So Dopers: If you were in charge, and price were no object, what creative touches would you add to Stan Lee’s funeral?

There’s got to be an Honor Guard of costumed heroes.

And music provided by the entire original cast of Spiderman: The Musical.

He’s only comic-book dead.

plus The Watcher.

Ya’know, I almost see him is the officiant.

Also, I kind of want to hear Dr Doom bloviate when he step up to pay his respects. I’ve always imagined his speech as a mix of Bela Lugosi and Rush Limbaugh.

In my experience, there’s usually a printed program at a funeral, listing the order of events and so forth. For his, will it be in comic book form? (If so, you know that it’s going to be highly collectible.)

If I was an artist I’d draw a picture of all the Marvel Superheroes bowing their heads as he walks off into the sunset.

I picture him appearing next to Thor in Valhalla and wondering how he got there.

I definitely would like to be able to buy tickets to TruCelt’s dreams. (Not the horror or R/X-rated ones though, plz.)

didn’t they do something like this for hanna -barbarera when joe died (the pic had them im the middle surrounded aby everyone ? cause I was asked how’d they get the rights for the warners characters and having ot explain warners now owns 90 percent of the classic animation ……….

That won’t work, he was no warrior, his WWII service was in films and cartoons.

Do the comics have Fólkvangr? Those are Freya’s Halls and for the goodly folk that weren’t warriors.

If this song was good enough for the funeral of one beloved creator, it’s good enough for Stan’s as well.

Sir, Victor von Doom is a hell of a lot smarter than Rush Limbaugh.

Not according to Rush. Just ask him.

I’ve been spinning around about the hearse. Should the coffin just float on a silver surf board?

I think I remember a similar cartoon with Mel Blanc and the Warner Brothers cartoon characters, which is probably where I got the idea.

I keep meaning to post this and forgetting: A couple of weeks ago I had another one in which Stan was berating me for the way his funeral went down. He was not at all pleased with it, and wanted to know what had happened to all our plans? He was really very angry with me for not having made it all happen.

Sorry man, I never realized it was an assignment. :frowning:
This came around on Facebook and reminded me to post:

All of this is just incredibly bizarre because, while I enjoy the movies, I am not a comic book fan. Nothing against them, I just prefer a good tome, you know? How he got such a hold on my subconscious I will never understand.

If anyone should be cremated and have his ashes put in a superhero sigil (as I point out in my other recent thread – https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=874314 ), it’s Stan Lee. Maybe a Fantastic Four symbol, or a replica of the Baxter Building.

Captain America was Jack Krby and Joe Sinnott’s. I think of Thor as Kirby’s too. And Spiderman owed more to Steve Ditko (and, reportedly, Eric Stanton) than to Lee. But I think Lee is really responsible for the FF.
