Star Gate Atlantis -- is anyone watching?

There are many reasons I never got into SG-1, but chief among them is it played for years where I could never see it, and by the time SF picked it up, it was just too much history for me to suck down. In spite of this, the two ep finale was somewhat entertaining.

Atlantis started – and I’m a sucker for new visions of Atlantis – and I have found it really enjoyable SciFantasy (Fantasy sprinkled with some science). It has the self-depricating humor of SG-1 which I do enjoy, but it has a really great cast of characters. ST should take a lesson from them in how to extend a series, as this is a more successful port of the original premise than virtually any of the ST series.

Plus the season ender was a WOW! I can’t wait till this comes back on moment for me.

Anyone else?

SG-1 and SG-A are my two guilty tv pleasures, I watch them all the time. I missed both season finales due to a friends’ party ( totally worth it but still…) so I ahve been reading all the synopses online and trying to BitTorrent to no avail :frowning:

Atlantis was suppose to replace the original, but somewhere along the way, SG1 revigorated itself and is going into a new season. This should be fun because they can take the series anywhere they wan  t.

I enjoy the show. I’ve been an SG1 fan for a few years, but I think I actually like Atlantis more at this point.

I enjoy the whole 3-hour block, from SG-1 through Atlantis to Galactica. My husband and I are gluttons for science fiction, and we are grateful to have this hefty chunk of well-produced SF television. Atlantis isn’t my favorite show, but it’s certainly watchable, and some of the best episodes have been very good indeed.

I got hooked on Atlantis when my friends gave me the tapes to watch when I was sick. I like the Wraith better than the System Lords as baddies.

Besides Lost, this is the only thing I am following.

I was nearly finished catching up on all of SG-1 on DVD when Atlantis started, so I started watching this too. I like it, but one of my favorite things about SG-1 is that it is the way in which it is Earth-based… humans are still limited by our own technology, and it has taken time to develop all the cool sci-fi stuff. In Atlantis, they started off right away with all kinds of fancy gizmos and advanced technology. That said, I think SG-1 is going to start sucking since they’re continuing it despite wrapping up the major story lines a few weeks ago, and there will be some cast changes. So I have a feeling I will start liking Atlantis better than SG-1. I really liked the way the SG-1 season finale ended, though. I had wondered what would happen given that what was essentially the series “ending” occurred in the previous episode, and I enjoyed the way it turned out.

Hubby and I are watching. I was leery at first, since they completely recycled Teal’c into Teyla (right down to skin tone and diction) and O’Neill into and Sheppard (sarcastic military leader). But the show grew on me. The characters took on some depth. I personally love Rodney - I hope they never let up on his egomaniacal jerkiness, because David Hewlett somehow makes those qualities funny and endearing.

Also, the Wraith are some scary-ass bad guys. Excellent artistic conception and execution on them. I also like the peek at their origins we got recently.

We used to watch SG-1 on Showtime, then fell away for a while. I started watching again when I heard the news about next season. I mean, look at my user name - how can I *not * watch, especially when the teaser showed Ben Browder looking all delicious in his Air Force uniform?

I actually found the latest episodes to be better than I expected (except for the clip show). I admit I’ve also found it amusing to evaluate the techniques they’ve used to conceal Amanda Tapping’s pregnancy.

I just started watching Stargate (either of them) about a year ago, I guess, when we decided that antenna TV was too stale.

I’m not much of a TV watcher, and never really have been. However, I hog the TV on Monday nights, so that I can watch the older Stargate episodes (LOTS of catching up to do!), then again on Fridays, to watch the new stuff. I’ve even been known to chase the son away from the TV between 6 and 7 while I make dinner, so I can keep catching up.

I like SG-1 better than SG-Atlantis, but I think that they are different enough that both are good. I hope that both of them stay around for a while.

Dayum, I was going to start a thread on this, but didn’t because I thought it would sound sexist. Anyway, my question was “Is Amanda pregnant, because her breasts are looking a little milk-heavy.”

So it must be true?

I am a watcher. For some reason, I think I prefer SG-1, although I am getting inclined to not watch reruns I have seen 2+ times.

The main question is: Does anyone have screen captures of Tayla in her slit-to-the-waist stick-fighting skirt?

Another fan here. I’ve been watching SG-1 for years now, and own just about every season on DVD that’s out. I didn’t like Atlantis at first, but it’s grown on me. What I can’t understand is why with 3 hit shows like this with a loyal fan base, the Sci-fi channel didn’t stagger their seasons? I’d think with 3 of them you’d be able to always have one that wasn’t in re-runs.
