What about Vulcans and Terrans? We see Spock in TNG and he’s just got a few grey hairs. Sarek dies of old age (and a Vulcan syndrome I can’t recall the name of. It causes an increasing loss of emotional control) during TNG. Spock’s mom, of course, was human. Her life span was about less than half that of a Vulcan.
More, from what I’ve seen of Voyager, the Ocampans are essentially human in mind. They live less than ten years. They have some psychic abilities. But their needs and personalities are essentially the same as ours.
Compare that too the difference between Vulcans and Terrans. We have unfettered emotions. Most humans eat meat. To me, this is a much bigger gulf to cross.
She’s been in jail since Sept 2. on two misdemeanor counts? I guess she can’t afford bail. Thays pretty sad. She needs to be in a treatment program of some kind.
Yeah, it’s pretty sad when someone from a Trek show can’t even make a little cash on the convention circuit. I don’t know if that says more about her and her current state, or about Voyager, and how Trekkies feel about it.
Well, I wonder how she ended up living alone in boondocks, Tennessee. Not making bail could be more a sign of mental state over finances. I guess she doesn’t have any family around?
I have heard that she is very shy and even when she did conventions, she wasn’t very good. But that may be related to her present problems. Never would have guessed it was her based on the photo.
I blame “People” magazine. STV was all set to dump Harry Kim and replace him with Jeri Ryan after season 3. But “People” decided to name Garrett Wong as one of the 50 most beautiful people and Kes got the pink slip. Couldn’t they have gotten rid of Neelix, Chukotay or Paris instead?
I believe they had to dump her because of the show’s premise. What do you do with a character who only has a nine year lifespan and was already three when the show started?
She was only 2 when the show started, and the original plan was to have her visibly age about a decade a season until she was an old woman by the time they got to Earth. They never followed through with aging her, and a new female character (Seven of Nine) was introduced so away she went.
