Star Trek Discovery's Timeline is irrevocably ****ed up.

Bear with me here, this is a bit convulated. These theories assume all the timey wimey nonsense is NOT predestination loops.
ENTERPRISE AND DISCOVERY SPOILERS

The very first episode of ST: ENT we have a time travel incursion. First Contact with the Klingons doesn’t match Picards description in the episode “First Contact” (not the movie) at all. And I don’t care if some creators say it does. Saying it doesn’t make it so.

That series is rife with meddling on the part of Future Guy, including him (or someone said) that ENT was supposed to have been destroyed early on.

Now we have the Mirror Universe. THEY effed up their timeline as we know it by bringing back Defiant. Giving them a 100 year jump in tech. In DISC its said they have “conquered the galaxy”. Thats hard to believe given even with a 100 year jump and access to Defiants logs, that they could conquer The Borg and The Dominion. But I still believe they polluted the timeline we saw in Mirror Mirror.

WHICH MEANS…when Mirror Georgiou crossed over?? With the knowledge of the galaxy she has, and they just let her loose??? That’s gonna reallllllly mess with things.

And frankly, DISC should just embrace that and run with it.

It probably would have been easier to just say it’s a new timeline but if you ignore the visuals (changes to which have been an issue with continuity for decades) and squint it kind of works.

Starfleet in Discovery seemed more like the one from TNG: vast and expansive. In TOS it seemed smaller and Space seemed more vast. A great war a deacde earlier could explain that.

It’s definitely not perfect but it can kind of be made to work, sort of.

The worst thing Star Trek ever did to itself is the rampant Time Travel.

It has absolutely KILLED my interest in that universe. :frowning:

There’s no reason to worry about comparing timelines from different series. Just watch each episode for itself.

Amen.

Not to hijack this thread but …
You’ll laugh when I say Doctor Who has fallen into this trap as well.
Duh, it’s a show with a time machine BUT it originally the TARDIS was just a way to get to different places and times so adventures could be set anytime anywhere. They first stepped onto the timey-wimey landmine during the Jon Pertwee years with The Day of the Daleks. I loathed that story. For years they stayed away from that type of story. The during the relaunch they had that story where Rose interferes with her Dad’s death, causing chrono-mayhem. They managed to make a decent story of it but I feared more that ilk would follow and I was proved right.

I hope the new showrunner stays away from that crap.

I hope the new showrunner (or old showrunner for that matter, I don’t care who) makes it all time travel all the time. Hell make Marty McFly the captain and rename the ship the USS Delorean, I don’t care. Time travel is cool. Make starfleet at war with skynet, yeahhhhhhhhhh
