Sorry to break it to you but Hoshi #3 converted to Mormonism about a year ago and she and I have been living the high life on Deneb. We got a nice deal on a ranch far away from the swamps and the pesky slime devils (she said they remind her too much of you) and are expecting twins next month.
It’s still not the same since **Kn*ckers ** left us though.
I say that the next Ensign that’s assigned to our merry little ship should be forced to dress in drag (or if it’s a woman, never wear pants) and allow us to labor under the illusion that she has finally been reassigned. Or maybe make **cplant ** do it… he likes wearing Mrs Plant’s knickers already anyway.
It’s the only way the cosmic balance will ever be restored.
Not to beat this too much into the ground, but I did take several more looks and I think the turncoat might have dropped to the floor as soon as Reed n’ Macos stormed the bridge, so he was still conscious. I just don’t see why he couldn’t have started shooting his fellow pirates himself. And how did T’Pol know she could trust him to hand over his weapon?
I know it’s way too late for a serious reply to this thread (I’d forgotten all about this being the week of a new episode until I went back and reviewed my tape), but I don’t agree that the “nine days vs. ten days” thing is too silly as the basis for a religious schism. One of the major causes for the great schism between the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox branches of Christianity was officially the “filioque” clause: Western Christians proclaimed that the Holy Ghost proceeds from the Father and the Son, whereas Eastern Christians said that the Holy Ghost proceeds from the Father alone. (And let’s not even get in to homoousianism versus homoiousianism.)
Remember, the guy who said that line was a former True Believer who had become disaffected from the faith and was increasingly convinced the man he had once revered as a prophet of the gods was leading them all into disaster. It’s easy to imagine it was more of a bitter quip than a serious theological statement, and he was both over-simplifying the theological issues and also leaving out that the ten-dayers mainly came from the Eastern Continent while the nine-dayers were from the Northwestern Landmass, and they spoke different languages, and the theological questions had festered along with various political and economic issues and cultural differences for centuries until the Grand High Pooh-Bah excommunicated the Great Panjandrum and vice versa and brought about the final breakdown into open warfare.
All right, everyone. I have been to About This Message Board. I have been to FAQ. I have searched the Edit Options. And I still cannot find something that will leave the cookie intact.
And when I get these thread links in Hotmail and I click on them, I can see the thread just fine, but I cannot, cannot, CANNOT successfully log in from there. I have to go to the site and log in there instead. Is this part of the new interface, or have I missed something critical that would allow me the email shortcuts that I used to enjoy?
I didn’t want to ask this in ATMB because they’d probably tell me to go read all the stuff I already read.
Sometimes it lets me reply via hotmail, other times it doesn’t. I’ve not noticed any rhyme or reason to it though so I’ve got no advice to give.
Oh, and anyone who hasn’t seen “The Last Samurai”, should. I watched it this afternoon and it’s already ranked among my favorite movies… even beating out all the Trek movies.
And anyone that dismisses it based on Tom Cruise’s involvement alone is dumber than a Pakled.
I dismiss it because of Cruise, and because of the “White Man needs to show the Asians how to fight” thing. That is a story that doesn’t need Tom Cruise whiting it up.
I did see Triplettes of Belleville today. See it. It deserves to win the Best Animated Picture Oscar.
The Asians show the white man how to fight, not vice versa. Although the white man does show them sound battle tactics™ that allow them to fight off a larger force far longer than they should have.
Unless, of course, you’re referring to the Emperor contracting American soldiers to teach them in the use of firearms and then modern warfare, which I am unsure of the historical validity of, but see no issue with it otherwise. Mercenaries were common in centuries past.
And people that dismiss a movie based on the actors therein annoy me. Cruise isn’t that horrible of an actor… I could understand if it was a total ham in the role but he’s perfectly acceptable. It just baffles me.
Anyway, with all that being said, the film was by no means without flaw. Like any other movie, the protagonist was an ubermensch that lived through things that Batman would have trouble preparing for and living through. Then there was the impossibly unrealistic resolution where the entire story is practically made moot but I love it regardless. It was just a beautiful film.
What’s throwing me on ENT is all the subtitles in Beagle every time Porthos barks.
Hey…Hotmail let me in here today without an endless series of log-ins. Aes, there truly is neither rhyme nor reason.
I’ll betcha that tonight’s ENT rerun will contain promos for “Proving Ground,” airing this Wednesday. If it does, I’m leaving a message for UPN about the obvious necessity of showing promos on Wed. nights as well. It will be one of the only first runs this week, since almost every TV show is either not on at all or is airing a rerun.
