And as for nits: Was Checkov even on NCC 1701 when Khan showed up in the series?
And Kirk has a son! Man, I hope they don’t kill him off in the next movie.
As for Spock, they did send his corpse to the Genesis thingy, hmmm…
It’s a funsies thread. Treat it like you just saw TWOK at the theatre when it came out. Nits, plot stupidity, better or worse than TMP, what of new series coming out, etc… Sure, you can use your knowledge of the last 18 or so years, but don’t be direct. Be subtle in forshadowing. Have fun!
And that Joachim dude is young and blonde…He doesn’t look a durned thing like the older, darker-haired Joachim in “Space Seed.” In fact…everyone on Ceti Alpha V looks young and blonde; they bear no resemblance to Khan’s gang in the TV episode!
Speaking of Ceti Alpha V…Chekov mistakes it for Ceti Alpha VI, and Khan has to explain that VI exploded and laid V to waste.
So…how did Terrell and co. not notice that a planet in that system was missing? Isn’t anybody at Starfleet updating the star charts?
seems odd they’re taking old ideas from the series. I heard a rumor that TMP was actually a failed pilot for a new series and Gene revamped it to a motion picture.
I also heard they’re planning another new series with a completely different crew!
Man, I wish I could tap into their word processors somehow with my Apple II-E
According to the IMDB, The Khan episode was 16 February 1967, and Chekov started on the series in 1967. If he was in the whole season, and didn’t skip that episode, then I guess he was there.
He wasn’t on the bridge crew. We didn’t see him for the whole first season. Then, when he started in '67 at the beginning of season two… see what I’m thinking? I’ll have to ask at the next Thundercon Star Trek convention
Seems kinda silly the only way to repair the warp drive was for a person to go in there and do it with their bare hands. I guess they lost radiation-suit and robot technology in that era…
(OK, I guess Spock might have calculated that putting on a rad. suit would have taken too much time.)
I bet the “official” story is that he (the character) was on the ship, just not promoted to the bridge yet. I suppose the whole ship would have known what happened. Actually, I guess the whole human civilization might have known via news sources and such.
Maybe Spock comes back as a ghost? It was most definitly his (Nimoy’s) voice in the closing credits. But, I didn’t catch that until the second time I sat through it. The remember thing I mean.
I guess now would be the time for them to put the series to rest. Nobody would want to watch a Star Trek movie where the main characters have gotten old, bald and fat.
I bet he implanted secret instructions to resurrect dead Vulcans. My buddy thinks Spock actually implanted his mind into McCoy, but that’s stupid. That’s not something to “Remember” but to hold or contain. That theory makes no sense.
