When will we see some real bad guys in the movies. Mabie the next one will have some good Klingons.
Gotta go, Taxi is almost on.
Didja jear that Superman III is coming out next year. Superman II was SO rad with general Zod and The Phantom Zone. I’ve heard Richard Pryor is going to be in this one, maybe he’ll play The Prankster. That’d be rad.
What was up with that sweater Kirk’s son was wearing around is neck? What, did he get lost on the way to his tennis lesson? I like the actor though. I bet we’ll see him in every Trek movie from now on. maybe he’ll be in the new series people are talking about? How cool would that be, a new series starring Kirk’s son!
Brought to you in Age 11-O-Vision:
Yeah, I guess that Lt. Saavik was cool. Or anyway she was ok for a girl. I guess. I mean, she’s a Vulcan, so she wouldn’t be interested in stupid girl stuff, like dolls and stuff. Or whatever.
I have got to get my parents to buy a video player this Christmas, so I can watch this movie when it comes out on video. That’ll be so cool. And I’ll be able to watch other stuff too, because this place that just opened up in my town that rents videos. Isn’t that awesome?
Of course, then I won’t be able to bug them to buy me a Colecovision. Shoot. What should I go for, video player or Colecovision?
I really like that they’ve established a precedent in this movie, that they treat space as having three dimensions. That means that when they make the next movie, or if they make a new tv series, they’ll have to do the same thing. Because they couldn’t just ignore the precedent. Right?
Also, has anyone else noticed the cool trend with sequels? They’re always better than the original. Empire was better than the original Star Wars. Superman 2 was better than the first. And now this. I hope it keeps up…
I love the Genesis special effect too! I hope we see it again and again, maybe in the next two movies. (Not that exact same shot, of course…)
Star Trek? Blaaaah, Stanley Krubrick is making a movie about AI. Now THAT will be a true SciFi Flick. It will be out next year, I think.
The part where they find the dead scientists on the space station was really scary (That space station looked kinda like the one in the first movie, tho). If they make a new series, I hope it’s on a space station, somewhere out in deep space. That would be so neat, and not boring at all!
Anyhow, I’ve already seen the movie a bunch of times. My dad’s thinking of buying a VCR since they only cost around $800 now, so maybe someday I’ll get to watch the movie whenever I want!
Wow, I saw it last night at the theater in Gardiner, MT, after I got off my shift as a waiter in Yellowstone Park, where I’m working summers to pay for college. I really wish President Reagan hadn’t screwed with financial aid, but that’s OK, we’ll vote him out in 1984 (I’m sure the Democrats will field a really strong candidate).
TWOK was totally awesome, and I’m really glad that they centered the real conflict of the film in the personalities of the two leads, rather than just in mindless action. Star Trek is a universe that embraces humanity and humanist values; I’m sooo glad that they never used androids as main characters in the TV show or movies, or doing something really stupid, like having a race of robots or cyborgs as regular villains. Like, that would be totally lame.
I’d heard he was gonna be Myxtztplk! Boy could he pull that off! I can’t wait to see it!
And I want a sequel to TRON, dammit. If a lame-o movie like Star Trek: the Motionless Picture can have a sequel (and if the sequel is this much better than the first), imagine how good TRON 2.0 (get it??? ) could be!!!
I read the director didn’t know diddly about SF, but he said he was just treating it as a submarine movie. I thought that mostly worked.
I wasn’t real impressed by the fact that Checkov’s crew somehow missed the asteroid belt that would’ve been created by the blowed-up planet. And I kept wanting Kahn to make a comment about “I remember you…Mr…Sulu.” to Checkov
Kirk’s son was a total prick and I hope he gets killed by a Klingon or something. What an obnoxious little cretin.
Overall, I liked the movie a lot though.
Fenris
I just hope that a less talented director never tried to ape him. Imagine what a fiasco THAT would turn out to be!
OK so help me out here.
(true story)
Do you think my girlfriend is mad at me?
Ok I won tickets to Wrath of Kahn to see it on THURSDAY BEFOR IT OPENED! (FTR the trivia question I answered to win was to name the agent who came to earth in the '60s to stop a NASA launch?) Anyway I live about a 50 min drive from my girlfriend (using freeways!) and the theatre is about another hour from where she lives. On my way to her house I got a blowout! On the freeway! Then I find my spare is flat! So I have to walk home. (I wish we had some sort of mobile phone) That took me about hour. So I called her and told her I couldn’t take her to the film. (She is a cute girl who actually LIKES TREK!) She was mad because I was at that time about 20 mins late. Anyway after I got off the phone my mom pointed out that I could take her car and make the movie. So I went. Now my girlfriend is acting kind of cool towards me.
So should I have not gone? or should she get over it?
Did anybody catch that TV interview with Leonard Nimoy when he was wearing the goofy white suit? I figured he was in a rush to finish the interview and get back to his Good Humor truck.
Anyway, I just saw the first episode of A-Team last night. That Dwight Schultz guy is cool. Maybe he could be in the next Trek movie.
tearfully, “Daddy, Spock’s dead!”
Yes, that was my actual reaction. You can bet he still reminds me of it
Yeah, that new Star Trek movie was pretty cool, but I really think that Battlestar Galactica is better. Starbuck and Apollo are awesome!! For some reason, the name Starbuck gives me a craving for coffee drinks…isn’t that wierd!!! Plus, the Cylons are totally cooler than the Klingons anyway.
Zebra, shame, shame. You should’ve taken her out to eat, like at one those new “Olive Garden” resturaunts (God how I hate spelling that word!) and then reschedule the movie date. I predict that in the future, tires will never blow out or tread separate, no matter how big the vehicle or how fast you go.
BTW, for your next car, check out that Plymouth Reliant K car. Should start a craze like the original Ford Mustang!
Who do you think will replace Spock now that he’s dead?
I would like to see some real hot babe with large breasts and kinda big lips cast to play a Vulcan. Would be the best character ever.
If they do ever decide to bring out a new series, I hope they let the show go out with an actual closing episode instead of just being canceled after seeing Kirk as a woman. I miss the cartoons!
Is it my imagination, or are these actors getting kinda old?
Yeah… I never understood that.
Boy that Kirsty Alley is hot. I hope she doesn’t gain a whole lot of weight or anything.
I’m guessing that once the reaction reaches some kind of “critical mass”, blowing up the device is useless. Kind of like trying to stop a nuclear meltdown by blowing up the reactor.
Dude, don’t be stupid. By the time they get to Star Trek V, it’ll be, like, 2000 or something. No one’s gonna be watching Star Trek; we’re gonna be living it! LOL!
And, dude, by that time, George Lucas is probably just going to be starting up the third Star Wars trilogy. Can you imagine how totally awesome that’s going to be? Star Trek is cool and all, but the first movie kinda sucked, and sometimes the show was sorta lame. But Star Wars rocks! George Lucas is such a genius, there’s no way he could make a bad movie! Hey, what if Lucas used computers like they did for the Genesis torpedo? Can you imagine how totally awesome it would be if they used a computer to animate Yoda? It would look soooooo much better than that puppet!
