Star Trek: Picard discussion thread

Every show had to have their gladiatorial episode in that era. I wouldn’t be completely shocked if it wasn’t the same writer simply retooling his script for different characters and universe. Babylon 5 had ‘TKO’ with a disgraced boxer fighting in the alien “Mutai” (no shit). ST:Voy had ‘Tsunkatse’, with Seven of Nine forced to fight as a gladiator for their survival. (Guest starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson)

Fuck, there’s probably a Facts of Life gladiatorial episode.

Agreed, Seth Trek is an amazing series, especially the 2 part Kaylon arc “Identity”, it is the Orville’s “Best of Both Worlds”

Of all the first season episodes that sucked, this one sucked the hardest. Yeccch!

AKA “Planet of the Angry Negroes.”

You must have blocked Star Trek: Nemesis from your mind. That one sucked targ balls.

Was still better than the one with RubberFace McSalieri…

Its shabbiness was apparent during the initial airing, as I personally remember.

Although I would have called it suckitude.

Is Picard’s incurable brain disease from the season finale still canon?

Didn’t you read the thread title? He tested not positively! He’s cured!

… As opposed to “Shiny, Happy Aryans.”

Well, you have to admit that using this theme saved on make-up prosthetics for the humanoid alien of the week for that episode.

<golf clap>

Just going to reinforce, here, that four days after being posted there’s no confirm - or even a denial - from Paramount or whomever is in charge, now. I haven’t seen one other site pick it up. Certainly io9 would have run with it.

I was clear in my OP that it was a rumor.

I hope they bring back John de Lancie. Picard’s ultimate nemesis. Q may even be the reason Picard left Star Fleet.

TNG ended with a story where Picard’s inadvertent actions almost caused a disaster. Q may have revealed something else to him just as bad

It would be a great way to start the new series.

Patrick Stewart’s last contribution to Star Trek was deciding Nemesis needed a high speed car chase. Perhaps he is the one with Irumodic Syndrome.

Oh that’s too bad.

…this info comes from that site? …I’ll wait for a more reputable site to say something.

I gave up on TNG before the first season was over. It really did suck donkeys. Fast-forward to the end of the series. They ran 3 fan favorites and I watched them all. I was surprised with how much better the series had become.

What’s it about anyway? I have a feeling that any Jean-Luc Picard series that doesn’t have him in command of an Enterprise is going to suffer by comparison to TNG, even if Patrick Stewart’s playing the same character.

That’s because Riker grew a beard.

A beard can’t help ST: Picard.
