Star Trek Picard Season 3 discussion (open spoilers)

The musical score thread reminded me I have the teeniest of dumb nitpicks:

TNG Klingons have their own motif. But starting with First Contact they keep using the more famous Goldsmith sting when Worf makes an appearance. Its gotten about as overdone as Carmina Burana

I cant find a more martial isolated bit of the TNG motif but here is a subdued version. And granted Jones made them similar to Goldsmith.

Well that one was entertaining as always but…had a whole lot of not making sense to it.

Leaned too much on nostalgia. Fun, brought a tear to my eye, but too much cause:

This ultra high security facility is guarded by…what? Like someone said earlier “Has Starfleet not learned its lesson?”

People are ignoring the galaxy-wide threat again as seen in season one…“I want to help you but my family.” There wont be a family if this isnt stopped!

And I’m supposed to believe Will is going to be conflicted over Deanna being a prisoner?? GALAXY-WIDE THREAT.

The hell reason would Section 31 have Kirk and Picards body?

So the Rogue Changelings plan to destroy the Federation requires them to have Picard’s corpse and his? :face_with_raised_eyebrow: And I agree, WTF does Section 31 have Kirk and Picard’s corpses?

Something something clone their brains install in android something…I guess that was Section 31s idea. I think their efforts would be better spent doing something else

The Changelings plan would seem to involve having two people with that Brain Syndrome. And the entire fleet somehow.

I fear the writers will connect this with the temporal anomaly seen in All Good Things…but the problem is, Picard’s brain syndrome and everything else in All Good Things is separate. The entirety of the rest was The Q and…Q.

Also speaking of “Deanna”, wouldn’t Betazoids be natural Changeling detectors? Full Betazoids would immediately notice not being able to read the thoughts of a species they should be able to, same with Human-Betazoid hybrids and sensing emotions. It’s one explanation for Betazed being a priority for the Dominion. And lets not forget about Vulcans, they should be able to easily identify Changelings via mind melding.

In a ship of changelings, you actually believe they have Deanna?

So neither Lore nor Moriarty are the real thing apparently.

Nice misdirect producers.

I think you mean, “So neither Lore nor Moriarty are the real thing apparently.”

Enjoyed the episode but I don’t have a bead on Vadic. They gave her some depth a few episodes back but seem to have forgotten it. Hoping that pays off.

So - we clearly saw 3 of 5 ‘displays’ -

a) Kirk’s body
b) Genesis II device
c) attack tribble

I couldn’t make out any others - anyone else?

For stuff in displays, there was the Borg vinculum, the thing that connected the Borg’s brains or whatever from Voyager. There was the device from Nemesis that melted the Romulan senate or turned them to dust or whatever. There was B-4’s head, I think. And then when New Data does his little R2D2 impersonation by projecting the hologram we see that Picard’s body was in one of the displays but it’s what the Changelings stole beforehand.

Sucks to be Kirk, totally dissed by Changeling grave robbers.

One of the ships in the Museum was the hypothetical refit of the NX Enterprise that they had planned to do if Enterprise had gotten a fifth season.

The Borg vinculum and The Romulan senate thing were the two I missed.

I’m specifically talking about the things before we get to the data cube.

According to stuff I saw online but missed myself, a few other Easter eggs in the Daystrom annex were the Android bodies from the TOS episode Tomorrow is Yesterday and a cache of self sealing stem bolts (a gag I am sure for the last one).

Correction: I meant Return to Tomorrow (the one with Sargon).

That’s why I put quotes around her name. On the other hand if it’s not Deanna than Vadic’s ruse would fall apart quickly since Riker knows they’re Changelings and would easily spot one impersonating his wife (who he has a telepathic bond with.)

It a TV show that’s solid wall to wall easter-eggs, what do you want to bet an Enterprise is in hangar 12? (They couldn’t sell the models of ‘the fat one’ and Shaw commenting on ‘hot dropping the saucer section on a planet’)

Georgie’s been fixing up a hotrod.

And to steal a little of that Battlestar Galactica vibe, if all the new ships have apple airtags and know where they all are…golly, don’t we have a dozen or so scrappy elder-statesmen that could be pushed into service one-last-time.

Maybe a couple of old Texas-class ships (built after they cleared Badgey from the OS).

You know….I’ll bet that holodeck has a shooting practice program. I’m
Just saying ….when you come up on two people from behind and you can’t hit shit.

Well I’m pissed that we didn’t see Riker or Troi. We did learn that Vadic’s boss is not a Changeling (or at least not a modified one). Whatever they want Picard’s corpse for it has to be for something more complicated than faking a DNA test. Also if the modified Changelings can be outed with a genetic test why wouldn’t Starfleet be using genetic security tests?
