Now, anyone that reads most of the Trek threads posted on here knows that I’m usually one of the fans saying that they should keep going as long as they want to… that they’ll always have some sort of fanbase for future shows and movies, but Christ, even I am getting tired of this. If you’re going to put a hold on the TNG movie franchise, put a hold on the movie franchise, period. Or, if nothing else, go with a DS9 or VOY movie instead of another fucking prequel. WE DON’T WANT THEM.
Can someone please initiate a hostile takeover of the Trek franchise? Please? I’m really starting to tire of Berman and Braga.
I’d like to see a prequel. TNG franchise is dead in the water and DS9 and
Voyager never appealed to me. Enterprise is alright, but it doesnt even beat
Smallville in the ratings (or for me, I watch it when Smallville’s season is over)
I think they really need to bring back TOS. The real spirit of Star Trek is Kirk,
Spock, Bones, Scotty etc… the only way to do this at this late date is to bring
in new actors and do the whole “Starfleet Acadamy” thing they have been
toying with for years.
DS9 has such great potential for a movie. Sisko could come out of the wormhole, and have all sorts of magical asskicking powers. There could be a subplot about Bajor finally joining the federation. And a big DS9-style space battle, and CARDASSIANS! And the Odo & Quark show. And Kira and Ezri getting nekkid and…
Nemesis didn’t flop because it was TNG. Nemesis flopped because it was a piece of shit. And Nemesis was a piece of shit because Berman and Braga are hacks.
My apologies. Braga had nothing to do with Nemesis. Nemesis flopped because Berman’s a hack. Braga’s still a hack, too…he just isn’t responsible for Nemesis’s floppiness.
God, not a prequel. Why do they feel the need to go back and mess up the franchise’s history? Enterprise’s dismal ratings tells you all you need to know about the fanbase’s attitude toward prequels.
Berman and Braga need to go away. Maybe we can get Geordi to drop them into a spacial anomaly or something
my God, Nemesis was SOOO much better than either V or Generations or IX (which I enjoyed)- it was intricate & dramatic & had a cool villian & Picard at his best & Data (spoiler almost included)…uh, singing- yeah Data did sing
anyway, I liked it & think it got way too much crap
I have to agree with FriarTed. Nemesis is greatly underrated. It’s no Wrath of Kahn, but it’s not a bad movie. I think everyone just hates it because of Data…er…you know.
It wasn’t that bad, sure there were lameoid moments but over all it was the second best TNG film.
Mind you this whole idea reeks to high heaven… let’s just bury the Trek Corpse and stop parading it about. It is looking worn out and it starting to stink badly.
Not only was it a pretty bad movie but it was a pretty bad Trek movie for a variety of reasons. The motivation for the main villain was pretty weak and Trek writers proved yet again that they cannot write a decent death for their characters.
Perhaps some good will come of it… if Berman and Braga take a reduced role in Enterprise’s 4th season, perhaps that will allow some new talent to come in.
As for Nemesis - as soon as I learned that the writer was a fan, I had my worries…I don’t trust my fellow Star Trek fans, I’m sorry But I wish they wouldn’t consider the series dead as far as movies go…TOS recoverd from Star Trek V well enough, imho.
Finally for the OP - NOOOOOOOOO, I think Douglas Adams said it very well when he said something like “Humans are a remarkable species in that they are able to learn from their mistakes, but they are even more remarkable for their refusal to do so” (I know I slaughtered that, but…didn’t feel like looking it up)
Anyway, hasn’t anyone learned from the “mistakes” that the SW prequels seem to be?
I’d like a DS9 movie, but only if it’s actually good. I’d rather have no DS9 movie than a crappy one. And I’m afraid that any attempt would end up being one big two-hour long contrivance to get all the characters in one place again.
Here’s hoping B&B will hand over Enterprise to someone worthy while they busy themselves with a movie and this other non-Trek series.
