I tried like hell to watch it earlier today, but the QuickTime and my comp don’t get along too well. It takes forever just to advance for a second or so, then stops. So…would you be willing to provide a trailer spoiler, puh-leeeeeze?
I don’t suppose I need to use the spoiler tag for this, since everyone coming in here would no doubt see it.
Looks like your basic TNG movie - good effects, the Enterprise looks cooler. Beyond that, it appears that Data has either created another Data or activated Lor, couldn’t tell which, and it also apperas that ::shudder:: Picard is going to have a sex scene. I didn’t recognize the villian race - the bad guy kinda looks like Max Schrek. There was a brief shot of Marina Sirtis, looking fantastic as ever, also a quick shot of Worf, but I didn’t see Beverley, Riker or Geordi.
I think it looks rockin’! The Vampire Romulans look like monster goons from some horror movie, but all the setting elements make it look like they spend a lot of time trying to make it seem like they are “boldly going where no one has gone before,” and not just to the local dairy queen.
- That’s B-9, a prototype of Data, in the trailer.
- The sex scene doesn’t include Picard, that’s Shinzon (the bad guy).
- The bad guys are Remans, the goon-like Romulans from the slave-moon of Romulus. Their leader is Shinzon…

Looks different. Really heavy on the CG effects, but that’s expected (just makes the older movies look so shitty).
What get’s me the most is that they’re implying that this is the final NextGen movie, i.e. the final Star Trek movie?!? Star Trek is the second most successful film franchise ever (behind James Bond) and they’re ending it?!? Somehow, I doubt that.
Are they implying, what, a Voyager movie next?! Excuse me-

I do believe that they’ve discussed more movies, but using assorted characters, some from DS9, Voy and TNG. Though they’ll probably ditch DS9, and put Troi (the most annoying TNG regular) and Wesley on Voyager and call that their “new crew.”

I just checked the imdb, and Kate Mulgrew makes an appearance…as Admiral Janeway. SHe went up in rank pretty damn quick!
(for reference, the imdb trivia section says this takes place four years after Insurrection, which is what? Three years tops after Voyager made it back home?)

amazing how Data’s “prototypic twin” is geting just as wrinkly and bloated as the real Data, Now we know it’s in his programming… and not just hard livin’.

I don’t know, the CG looks interesting but it looks more like a Lucas thing than Star Trek. I mean people get down on the older effects but I still find miniatures are convincing if done right. Let’s hope this is a good one.

Granted, there was the time-thing, but one would imagine she got promoted anyway.
I think it has a darker look then other Trek films (save First Contact) This really looks like an action film. I hope it is.

Will he make an appearence in the film?
Trek does some thing differently from the Royal Navy; Commodore Decker was a rank rather than a teporary command, and promotion seems to be a reward for actions rather than from time in service.
Why do you suppose TPTB killed Voyager and DS9 as movies? Not everyone hated Voyager and I though DS9 to be the best trek ever…well, not Kirk, or course, but better than Picard moralizing and drinking tea while he watched the natives on the viewscreeen kill and eat each other rather than violate the prime directive.
