Star Wars Episode 2 Plot Summary

Okay, now I’m confused. I’m not a Star Wars expert. I have seen all of the movies, however, and I was under the impression that Queen Amidala was destined to be the mother of Luke and Leia.

I don’t get it. What am I missing, here?

Okay, here’s some info that clears up that post by Lissa, and also answers Bill H.

Queen Amidala was elected into office, she’s not Royalty by birth. In the very beginning of Episode 2, there is no longer a Queen Amidala. She was removed from office in a huge plot spoiler that I won’t share, and the position is afterward held by Queen Jamailla.

But for the rest of the movie, she will still be Padme Naberrie, which is her real name. And she does become Luke and Leia’s Mother.

Oh, come on. JarJar was annoying, but he wasn’t that annoying. I don’t want to see Jar Jar Binks die horribly. I just want to see him die.

I miss Qui Gon Jinn. He was hot.

But I’ve always thought that Darth Vader was the coolest, hippest, raddest movie villian to come down the pike, and I always wanted to find out how he got to be that way.

As Guanolad said, most of those details have been rumored for a while, gleaned from a variety of sources, such as the websites that Lucasfilm employees registered. Some of the names I don’t recognize, however, and I can’t believe they’re real. “Dexter Jetster?” “Elian Sleazebaggano?” Come on.

Further, there’s no mention of Jar Jar, a huge omission. Aurra Sing, the albino redhead bounty hunter from TPM, is supposed to play a major role, but she is conspicously absent. I was also under the impression that Boba Fett’s real name was something completely different (and his father’s last name would not be Fett), but that could just be a rumor.

I have to agree with Guanolad. It’s probably bogus. Keep in mind, Lucas loves to play games with the public, hiding some major secrets and releasing red herrings.

And dammit, there’d better be a cooler “surprise” than Palpatine and Sidious being the same person. Clones, brothers, split personality, I don’t care. Something. Anything.

Dexter Jettster runs Dex’s Diner. Elian Sleazebaggano is some guttertripe who deals in drugs. Jar Jar’s role is much smaller, but he has made something of himself. Aurra Sing is not in the movie. The history of Boba Fett that was established in the novels will be proven false by what happens in Episode 2.

And there are many cool surprises.

I think that this would be better suited in MPSIMS, don’t you?

I think Ol’ George sold out big time with this. He’s throwing Fett into the mix just because that’d be a huge selling point for the series (he IS the most popular character from SW, you know).

The least he could have done for the fans is at least stuck with the history that’s floating around out there. He left us hanging for two decades, during which time he said “You’re on your own”, and then he steps in and says “Nope, you’re all wrong, THIS is how it’s done!”

As far as I’m concerned, Fett was, is, and always will be Jaster Mereel.

Of course not. More than three hours is standard for a Star Wars film.

I, for one, refuse to read the plotline. I’ll probably get to see it for free at college.

I don’t think so. The three movies of the original trilogy are all slightly more than 2 hours. The Phantom Menace is 133 minutes. No Star Wars movie has been released anywhere close to 3 hours, not even the special editions. Maybe when the DVD’s are released they will include enough extra footage to approach 180 minutes, but that is just speculation (probably wishful thinking).

However, I have read ( I don’t remember where, and I have no solid site) that George always has to approve anything that goes into any of the books, comics, graphic novels, games, etc. so that they don’t blow the continuity that he has established. I had also heard that he didn’t let folks tell what the clone wars were, or the tale of the rise of Palpatine so that he could do those with the other films… again, no site, no back up, just what I’ve heard.
I don’t think that we’re going to see any sort of reliable leak. Security was insanely tight on the Ep. I, I don’t imagine that they’ll relax it on Ep. II.

George used to sort of approve of some things for the novels and EU (Expanded Universe). But nowadays he doesn’t really pay attention to it at all.

The history of Boba Fett and where he comes from is really interesting, now that George has established it in Episode 2. And it is slightly possible to still keep the Jaster Mereel thing in context, maybe. I think. It depends if Boba Fett returns for Episode 3 or not.

That’s the problem… WE SHOULD NOT KNOW BOBA FETT’S HISTORY!!! He’s a mystery character. We don’t know for sure who he is, we don’t know for sure what he’s doing, we don’t know for sure how old he is…

If it were suddenly revealed, we’ll find that Fett can’t live up to the imaginary existence in the minds of all the fans. You’ll see everyone say “Man, all this time I thought Fett was a badass… now we see he’s just a wuss!”

That doesn’t necessrily follow. Why can’t he be a badass with a reasoning behind his bad-ass-ness?

True, his mystery did contribute a whole heap to his popularity. But I think what will be revealed now about him, though it changes things, will add to his appeal and not subtract.

Well, it does for me, anyway.
