Star Wars Episode III Anybody Else Seen the Trailer? *Spoilers*

Well, out of the five theatrical releases bearing the “Star Wars” logo, only two have been worth watching. And that’s not counting the “Special Editions,” which really throws off the calculus because they managed to make the good movies in the series suck, also. (Well, in all honesty, the SE of Jedi was a marginal improvement over the original, IMO.) So, really, there’s no reason not to think that the sixth movie will suck, also. Except that Lucas is neither writing nor directing it, which gives me some hope. Not much, but some.

Regardless, I’m still going to see it. Two reasons: I’ve seen every single Star Wars movie in the same theater, and I don’t want to break the streak. And, as bad as it probably will be, it’ll still be the Geek Event of the Year when it comes out, and I want to be able to participate in the innumerable internet discussions that will spring into life within .5 picoseconds of the film hitting the theaters. I mean, I’ll watch Bush’s State of the Union address, despite knowing ahead of time that I will despise every thing he says, simply because I want to be informed on the subject.
