I’m not going to bother with spoiler boxes, so if you don’t want to know, get out. I wouldn’t have believed that this was the trailer (seeing as how I found it via methods best left unsaid), but I don’t recognize any of the footage, and it’s too bloody well done, and anybody who could fake that needs to just go ahead and make the third movie themselves, and screw whatever Lucas comes up with. Obviously, I’ve no idea if it’ll be a good film or not, but the trailer’s freakin’ cool! (Sexy Amadala lookin’ scantily clad, holdin’ a lightsabre will be worth the price of admission, IMHO.) What get’s me though, is that (and this is the potential major freakin’, throw the baby out with the bathwater, spoiler) I’ve looked over the cast list and I didn’t see one name listed, but I could swear I saw the actor near the tail end of the trailer. This actor is: Christopher Walken. He’s dressed as a Jedi, but he’s got that “evil creepy walking dead” expression on his face that he does so well. Oh yeah, there’s a shot where a door opens and you see about 5 people in Boba Fett-type suits, Jar Jar’s in this one as well, and there’s some kind of Braveheart-style battle scene with an army of Jedis running with drawn lightsabres.
Seen it, it’s fake. The mystery actor is Gabriel Byrne, and that scene really was taken from Braveheart. That trailer made the rounds before Ep II even came out.
So where’s the trailer? You can’t just leave us hanging, man!
Seriously, where is it?
ACH SO!
I do in fact recall seeing the Braveheart scene back them and being both excited and confused.
Hurm. Still, let’s see if Lucas can do better.
That is very very old at this point.
Well, like I said, if it’s fake, it’s a damn site better than Lucas could do. And I’d like to know where they got some of the footage because I’ve never seen any of it in the other films, and it’s too well done to have been cranked out on your average PC. Whomever did it had to have access to the same type of software (Maya, etc.) that Lucas is using.
Yeah, it is quite impressive. I used to have a list of the films the other scenes were taken from. I think the shot of Gabriel Byrne was taken from Stigmata. I’ll see if I dig up the site where the guy described how he made it.

Here is the shot-by-shot description. You’re right, Walken is in this one. Byrne is too, in another scene. There is a listing of the various movies the scenes were taken from.
Well Braveheart did win some Acadamy awards.
Sorry, here’s the link to a page devoted to this particular trailer, if anyone wants to see it.

Well, that’s definately the trailer that I saw, damnit. Sigh, that can only mean one thing: Ep. III’s gonna be a crapfest.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m entertained by this fan stuff, here is a trailer for Episode 3. I believe the grainy Anakin shots are from early test footage for Episode 3 which was leaked (most likely intentionally) a few months ago.
The link will take you to an error page, click on the identical link there to see the video (12 MB).
Link took me directly to the download, Murcielago. I gotta say that that trailer just ain’t as good as the other one.
Probably a Mozilla thing with the download on my end, Tuckerfan. I’m curious as to where the footage of Portman’s screaming pregnancy came from, looks almost like she has elflish ears there.
You know, I’m not even sure if that is Portman there. Her face is so contorted, it’s hard to tell. However, it looks like this film might be the source of the pregnant Portman clips, if it is indeed her. (Note, I’ve not seen the linked film, but from the description, it might contain clips of Portman pregnant.)
No, those shots of Natalie Portman are from Where The Heart Is which is an odd, somewhat tragic movie.
I just love the fact that people are already claiming what a crapfest Ep. 3 is going to be, even before seeing any real trailers. But you know what, you’re probably going to see it anyway.
Never said I wasn’t.
You didn’t notice that the trailer says ‘Episode II’ at the end?
Snipped off in the first version I saw. Besides, Lucas tried to mask the shooting of one of the Star Wars films by calling the production Blue Harvest or something similar, so even I had seen “Episode II” at the end, I wouldn’t have necessarily realized that it was an old fake. I’ve also seen a few bootleg copies of films which have gotten titles wrong (either the wrong film entirely or the wrong one in the series), given that most film companies have the film processed and printed in China (bootlegger’s heaven) this isn’t too surprising.
Yes, I realize that Lucas shoots his movies on digital cameras and there’s no film until just before the pictures are released for distribution, but I and a few other people I know have had things “fall into our lap” which had to have been leaked from someone closely connected to the studio. (One friend I knew had a copy of a film, with the time code running across the bottom and no musical soundtrack, meaning that his tape was a copy of the version given to the musical director for the film. How he got it, I’ll never know.)
