Star Wars Episode VIII anticipation thread

Ha ha! We used to have a Gungan floater when the kids were little.

Check out the latest issue of Vanity Fair (with any one of four different SWVII covers) for a very interesting article on the next movie - lots of tempting tidbits, but no spoilers - and a terrific selection of pics by Annie Leibovitz.

Despite what the Han Solo movie is going through, Rian Johnson tweeted the other day that he has had as much creative freedom on the Last Jedi as he has had on any movie before it.

I take that as a sign that Kathy Kennedy(and others) are happy with what he has done. The moment you go astray, they probably voice their concerns.

I think they were spot-on with Episode VII(loved it). I know Rouge One was very difficult for all involved. I think it turned out…OK. I hope VIII works out as well as VII.

Well, sure. Finding the proper brush had to be a hassle.

I…do not get your joke. Help.

Rouge ≠ Rogue

I wouldn’t say that I loved Episode VII, but I do think that they did what they needed to do with it. It wasn’t amazing, but I also can’t say that there’s anything wrong with it, per se.

I think it was really good and I’ve seen in quite a few times since release. My kids, who are 6 and 8, are lucky enough to have had no wait between Episodes IV-VI and the new one. Honestly, it fit right in for them.

Rogue One bored them to tears, though.

Ah, thanks! :smack::smack::smack:

My kids are the same age as yours, and I agree, it’s all one amazing story unfolding in front of them from their perspective. My son (the 8-year-old) also loves that there are Star Wars stories I don’t yet know (meaning we can speculate together). My 8-year-old loved Rogue One, my 6-year-old pretends to like it, but ends up going off to play with her dolls half-way through every time. I don’t think she even comprehends that basically everyone dies.

“it’s a wrap”

New trailer will premier on ESPN during Monday Night Football halftime
Presumably it will be online shortly after (if not before  )

What time is half-time for Monday Night football? Eastern Time Zone USA.

Leia seems too big to me.

Trailer #2

Basically the last footage I plan to see before release.

Looks neat.

That trailer better be extremely misleading, or they hinted at a big spoiler.

And I thought director Rian Johnson was just trying to drum up attention when he said not to watch the trailer.

I think it is all just edited footage with no context. I consider myself unspoiled.

Just got my ticket - 3D Imax at Pacific Science Center, 10 PM on the night of the 14th.

I fully expect none of what that trailer is appearing to show us to actually be what takes place.

Well that looks spectacularly good!

I don’t need to pre-order tickets, I’ve seen every Star Wars (and Marvel) movie since 1999 just by rocking up early on opening day in a mostly empty cinema, and don’t anticipate any difference this time.

Yes. As the schools will still be in, the matinee showing will likely be the one for me.
