Starfleet uniforms which series is the best?

Original Series TNG DS9/Voyager Enterprise New Movie Series

So I personally prefer the DS9 style uniforms, they seem to be a bit understated and look more like work uniforms, for that reason I also like the Enterprise Uniforms as they look like they might actually have pockets.

None of the above. Nothing beats the uniforms in ST:TMP.

The penguin suits? Yeah right.

Anyway, I like the black jumpsuits for practical work uniforms.

Liked the DS9 look. But I think that Voyager, due to being lost in the Delta Quadrant, never updated from the old TNG outfits. That’s just from memory, I could be wrong.

No! The pajamas

(Yes, kidding.)

I agree that the ENTERPRISE uniforms looked the most like practical jumpsuits for astronauts who need to stash useful items in their pockets.

But the red uniforms with the shoulder clasp are by far the spiffiest.

I liked Wrath of Khan, Search for Spock era uniforms. They looked more classically naval, with a fold-over ‘lapel’ on the chest that exposed a white patch of fabric that you could dramatically smear blood on.

I agree. I like the shoulder strap, too.

I like the bright original series ones the best.

In terms of what would be mode comfortable, probably the Enterprise ones.

Voyager had early ds9 uniforms

More like marching band uniforms, I’d say. :frowning:

I liked the later TNG uniforms with the waisted tunics. Voyager’s uniforms were sharp too.

If I could only have one, though, I’d want TOS’s.

Green or gold?

And they looked like they had some (replicated?) cotton or wool to them. Some of the polyester specials? I honestly felt bad for the actors.

Honestly, working all day on a set in a “polyester special” uniform must have made every single person on board smell like feet.

“Captain! We have a containment field breach at the Sonic Showers! Reports are coming in of crewmen passing out within two decks of the affected area!”
“Erect an emergency Level 9 Containment field around the sonic showers and flood all the affected decks with Lysol Gas. I’m on my way…”

I always liked the movie uniforms starting with Wrath of Khan- they were a good blend of the traditional with the futuristic.

I suspect, based on the uniforms worn on submarines (blue coveralls with rank insignia) that the *Enterprise *uniforms are the most likely uniforms to be worn shipboard. But I’d think they’d bust out the dress uniforms when meeting new species, etc…

Gotta admit, I liked the (apparent) gold tunics better than the green.

Makes you wonder, if the sonic showers clean without water then could you just wear your clothes in it and never have to change.

I feel like the JJ reboot uniforms are as close to TOS as it’s possible to be and not just copy directly. There is something very cinematically appealing about those bright colors and simple shapes, and I like them best as far as a straight visual design choice. Unfortunately micro-mini skirts don’t lend themselves to me looking polished and professional. That length makes me feel and look like I should be on a street-corner, regardless of the amazing feats that both Nichols and Saldana have pulled off.

For actually wearing every day in a job where I need to make a good first impression and be diplomatic and attractive and polished? As a woman, I’m going to pick the TNG jumpsuits. That high black/dark shoulder line makes just about everyone look good (the DS9 version is too low), and the later seasons they had a very nicely tucked waist that ought to be a good encouragement to keep in shape, and a decent visual assist if one doesn’t quite manage it.

For working in/practicality, I’d say that the Enterprise jumpsuits are the most reasonable, but God Damn they’re boring and unattractive to look at.

Except for the giant belt buckle, Kirk’s grey and white uniform when he first arrives on the Enterprise is not bad. However, my favorites are the unies from Wrath of Kahn, Voyager, and First Contact.
