So, I’ve started seeing commercials for this on television, and did a quick Google search, but haven’t found anything really informative out there. Anyone know something other than “They find Atlantis and a stargate that jumps to the Pegasus galaxy”?
Offcial site
Does this mean Richard Dean Anderson has an entirely new galaxy to annoy?
From the little I’ve heard, the SG-1 team will do some crossover appearances, but otherwise this is an entirely new crew. The trailer on the official website has to be one of the least informative I’ve ever seen.
Yeah, I’ve been to the official site, but there really doesn’t seem to be much there. Of course, due to the stupidity of someone here at work, none of the computers here can run QuickTime, so I haven’t seen a good trailer, just the little things on SciFi that mention “A new threat.” Is this supposed to be another offshoot of the Goauld (forgive the horrible spelling), or is it supposed to be something else? And if it is something else, how do they fit into the mythos of the stargates?
The new bad guys I think are called Wraiths, and I guess they suck out people’s souls, or energy, or something.
There’s something about a special gene that some people have, that allows them to operate Ancient techonolgy.
As I understand it, the gate network is completely separate, and the gates look different.
Dr. Teresa Weir (who took over the SGC at the end of the last season) will be heading the team, but will be played by a different actress. Rodney McKay (the guy who wanted to be a pianist and is allergic to citrus fruits) will be on the team also.
The SG-1 season premiere will be a week or two before the Atlantis premiere, to wrap up some things from the last season finale, and set the stage. I think Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks will be in the Atlantis pilot.
Wow, this snuck up fast.
I’d heard about this series months ago, but kept on thinking that it was a ways off from being shown. But it’s coming in July? Cool.
I’ll watch it and at least give it a shot, but if it doesn’t have the same chemistry between the characters as the original series (a primary reason for me getting hooked) then I probably will be only an occasional viewer.
I do remember McCay (ever so vaguely) from the SG-1 series, and I remember that I liked him and thought he was funny. I would hope that he contributes to this hoped-for “chemistry” in the series. We’ll see.
Yeah, the commercials have been irritatingly vague. “We may never be able to return home again.” Why? Give me a little more info.
I dunno how well it’ll do; doesn’t look like there are two guys worth slashing…
