Stargate SG-1: Heroes Part 1 & 2

Since both of these have already aired I don’t think I need to put a spoiler warning in the title or use spoiler boxes.

I thought these two episodes were IMHO some of the best television I have ever seen. Especially Part 2. I thought they were both well written and acted . Two of the best, if not the best episodes of SG-1.

I loved the way Teal’c refused to answer any of the questions by both Bregman and Agent Woolsey. (sp?) and Jack’s “I hope shots of my ass serve you well.” There were of course many other moments I liked but they would be too numerous to list here. :-p

I’m also interested to hear what other people thought of them. Did you love them? All right? Hate them? Indifferent? Did you like one more than the other?

I liked them very much. Very emotional stuff. Part II was especially moving. I think that Amanda Tapping (Sam) did a fine acting job, as did Don Davis (Gen. Hammond).

It was nice to see Adam Baldwin (just recently from Firefly) in this episode too. Rumors are that he wants to be in the Stargate spin-off, Atlantis. Don’t know if anything will come of that, though.

I thought they were both very good episodes but then again I can’t think of an episode of Stargate I didn’t like.
Did anybody really think Jack was killed? I knew right away that he would have that new protective armor under his vest and that Janet was the dead one.

Agreed. As soon as I saw her flirting with the interviewer, I thought to myself, “Aw, crap- they’re gonna kill her.”

And I twigged pretty early on that they never actually said that Jack was dead. I’m also not certain the show could survive Jack’s death, either.

Damn, I’m gonna miss Teryl Rothery. She was always so damned perky.

Not to mention cute.

Excellent episodes both. But I don’t like the way they are shuffling O’Neill onto the sidelines. I know RDA demanded it, but without him the show just doesn’t work as well.

While I liked the episodes, I didn’t like the heavy handedness on the “who’s going to die” secret. I felt like they were dragging it on, just to drag it on. I think most fans knew that it wasn’t going to be Jack, Sam, or Daniel…so the whole drama of wondering who it was just seemed to stretch out a bit long to me. A little would have been fine, but they should have reached the climax of that suspense about 20 minutes in (IMHO), then moved on to something else. I will say that the scene where Sam read the list of people that had been saved by Janet, was very well done.

Very well done. My husband has watched this show for years - we had to get Showtime when it started so he wouldn’t miss an episode. I didn’t expect to like it. But every one I’ve seen is well written and well acted. As a TV snob, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this. Stargate almost makes up for all the horrible sci-fi movies that he watches all the time.

The continuity between the seasons is really good too. I’m glad they mentioned Cassie.
