Starving Artist Has Issues With Long Hair

It was the comment about Malia Obama that set me off, not the stupid one about Facebook or whatever.

I would never say something about a little girl like that, much less Malia who I think is adorable. I have a real soft spot for little girls thanks to the ones in my own family (you may recall that I stopped listening to Rush Limbaugh over his Chelsea Clinton/White House dog joke), and the idea that scumbagious woman would suggest that I’d say something like that about an innocent little kid like Malia is what set me off.

I probably did overreact, but it was completely unexpected, especially coming from Equipoise, a woman I’ve complimented several times for her music and movie reviewing skills and her intelligence, and who I’ve apologized to over the ‘granny’ insult which I stopped using so she wouldn’t feel bad about talking about her granddaughter…and then she pulls that shit from out of the blue! Making accusations about me and how I’d talk about young children, and black children at that, on a board with black members…well, it pissed me off more than anyone has pissed me off since I’ve been here. It was an outlandishly insulting and dishonest way to portray me, and it was totally unexpected coming from her.

You’d pardon me, I’m sure, if I might want to take a few things into account upon reading the information…things like accuracy, whether or not the reporting agency likely had access to all the information it needed, whether it adjusted for relative unreportings for the different times, whether it counted girls who’d gotten early-term abortions (and how would they even know?), the effect of HIPPA laws on statistics-gathering, etc., etc., etc.

You may well be happy to eagerly accept figures that support your hope that I’m wrong, but I think a little analyzation and reflection may be needed before I comment.

And of course, in a big-picture sense it makes little difference anyway, unless you want (as it appears) to take minor little statistical discrepency and pretend that it undoes my entire argument…in which case you would only expose the weakness of your own case.

Oh, you have no idea, sweetie-pie. (I’m assuming from your name that you’re a female.) I love the world around me. Don’t be fooled by my complaints here, they make up only around two or three percent of how I view life around me. I have a delightfully happy life, full of fun, family, friends and acquaintances, good food (and booze), music, books, friends, and enjoyable and entertaining recreational pursuits. If you met and spent an evening with me away from here you’d never know it was me.

Happy to see that my thread is alive and well, and that Starving Artist is proving the point I made in my OP over and over.

Ah, let’s see what’s new:

Either you’re a liar, or your short-term memory really is seriously enfeebled.

Nice to see your inability to comprehend reality, not to mention your inability to set an example for polite and civil behavior, is certainly coming to a middle.

Here’s some more:

I’m actually wondering if we should be worrying about you.

And here you prove you don’t have an ounce of integrity:

The sad thing is, you failed to notice that FinnAgain did not make a demand; he asked politely.

Here’s some data about Teen Pregnancy.

The discerning reader (i.e., someone who probably isn’t Starving Artist) will notice several things:

  1. The rate of teen pregnancy is lower in recent times (2002 is the most current data I could find) than it was in 1972 (the earliest available data.)
  2. The rate of abortion is lower than it was in 1973.

The data in easy-to-read, chart form.

Now, Starving Artist, if you continue to ignore polite requests to consider this data, you can only be labeled craven and unfit for debate.

I honestly don’t know if you are at fault or I am, but you are sounding like a fucking idiot. (And ‘rampant’ misspellings don’t help :D)

So, I’m gonna bail from here for tonight and pick it back up again tomorrow.

Goodnight, Hector…Goodnight, Zoe…Goodnight, Rubystreak, wherever you are.

My excuse is that English is my second language.

Your excuses to avoid dealing with the points that were made are pathetic.

I will prefer, to the end of my days, to be a person with problems with grammar than to be a person that is proud of his ignorance.

I can only conclude that you are only insulting me just to make cheap points, and you are dishonest in the end.

No, I’m insulting you because you sound like you’re drunk. We’ve had many interactions in the past and I’ve never had trouble understanding you before.

And not only that, I tried to give you an out by admitting that the fact that you sound like a fucking idiot might be my fault. So how’s about a little gratitude, eh?

And now I’m out.

Maybe.

Probably.

We’ll see.

One more thing, what I said was:

“Equipoise said “would not be surprised” or “probably”, hardly worthy of the insults you are launching. You are however certain that he has insulted you.”

You only replied to that that “he” was a “she”

The last post where you claim that I sound like a fucking idiot was just me saying that I do believe that you were smart enough to know what was the issue. And you just avoided it.

That reminded me of a Churchill rumor/incident/joke that goes like this:

A lady at a party goes up to Winston Churchill and tells him, “Sir, you are drunk.” Churchill replies, “Madame, you are ugly. In the morning, I shall be sober.”

What I see is that you are still proud of your ignorance. A very ugly thing.

Okay, whatever. I didn’t mean to insult your grasp of what is not your native tongue.

Your argument that Equipose’s use of ‘probably’ or ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ lets her off the hook is specious though. I doubt if I spoke ill of your homeland or countrymen and then qualified it with ‘probably’ or ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ that you would be any less offended.

The point is: it is as specious as your excuse of why you are defending the lies of Hannity.

I would only go berserk if she would dare to say that again after I clarified that I’m not supporting any of the yahoos at Free Republic.

But that is not why I complained early. I complained because getting insulted when a qualifier like “probably” was used, does sound really odd when coming from someone that claims that another adverb like “only” is good enough to get him off the hook.

Funny you should mention that. I just wrote a response to that erroneous accusation in the other thread here. You might find it enlightening.

Whatever. How about you take offense in the way you see fit and let me take offense in the way I see fit? How’s that?

As mentioned, it makes you look like an idiot. And **mswas **has your number IMHO.

And that is that.

What makes me look like an idiot?

Going for a bazooka of insults to kill the “fly” of an insult from Equimopse.

I don’t need to lock the doors at my house, and I haven’t since it was built 5 years ago.

That’s funny. Equimopse wasn’t even mentioned in the post containing two other things that appeared to be connected to my idiocy. I know English isn’t your first language, but even in English we aren’t expected to be mind-readers.

Anyway, this has gotten way past tiresome. Go talk nonsense to someone else. I’ve done my good deed for the day.

Goddammitalltohell. It’s a sad day when SmashTheState is a voice of reason; StarvingArtist, you are being cogently smacked down by STS. See what you’ve done?!

You said “How about you take offense in the way you see fit and let me take offense in the way I see fit?” The context shows that you are talking about the offense you had with Equimopse, so it is you who is requesting the mind reading.

Cheap points again.

And being proud of ignorance is never a good deed.

It is if you’re a fundie.

No no no…

“Conservatives think that liberals have horrible ideas that brought about the ruin of society and also that they’re total assholes who will never listen to their opponents’ position without personally insulting their opponents and alleging that their opponents’ ideas will bring about the ruin of society. Liberals, on the other hand, are totally unreasonable about conservatives.”

BTW, just so I’m clear, I have a fair number of typically ‘conservative’ political leanings myself, as well as a few typically ‘liberal’ ones. I believe that honest disagreement is possible. Conservatives aren’t bad people or bad debaters.
Idiots and liars are bad people and bad debaters.

I’ve read a lot of your posts in the short time I’ve been here, Starving Artist, and I agree with you to a large degree.

Society has deteriorated, as you said. I don’t think any rational, impartial observer would disagree.

The main problem is the 60s mantra of “question authority” has been taken to an absurd length, fueled by liberal philosophy and aged counterculture types now inhabiting positions of power.

Respect for God has dwindled.
Respect for government, police, teachers, etc has dwindled.
Respect for parents has dwindled.

…but respect for “the environment”, that’s way up!

But take heart. The pendulum will swing back the other way eventually. One glimmer of hope is that young people (under 20) today seem to realize that the whole system has gone cockeyed. The old liberals vastly overestimate the effects of their brainwashing.
