It was the comment about Malia Obama that set me off, not the stupid one about Facebook or whatever.
I would never say something about a little girl like that, much less Malia who I think is adorable. I have a real soft spot for little girls thanks to the ones in my own family (you may recall that I stopped listening to Rush Limbaugh over his Chelsea Clinton/White House dog joke), and the idea that scumbagious woman would suggest that I’d say something like that about an innocent little kid like Malia is what set me off.
I probably did overreact, but it was completely unexpected, especially coming from Equipoise, a woman I’ve complimented several times for her music and movie reviewing skills and her intelligence, and who I’ve apologized to over the ‘granny’ insult which I stopped using so she wouldn’t feel bad about talking about her granddaughter…and then she pulls that shit from out of the blue! Making accusations about me and how I’d talk about young children, and black children at that, on a board with black members…well, it pissed me off more than anyone has pissed me off since I’ve been here. It was an outlandishly insulting and dishonest way to portray me, and it was totally unexpected coming from her.
You’d pardon me, I’m sure, if I might want to take a few things into account upon reading the information…things like accuracy, whether or not the reporting agency likely had access to all the information it needed, whether it adjusted for relative unreportings for the different times, whether it counted girls who’d gotten early-term abortions (and how would they even know?), the effect of HIPPA laws on statistics-gathering, etc., etc., etc.
You may well be happy to eagerly accept figures that support your hope that I’m wrong, but I think a little analyzation and reflection may be needed before I comment.
And of course, in a big-picture sense it makes little difference anyway, unless you want (as it appears) to take minor little statistical discrepency and pretend that it undoes my entire argument…in which case you would only expose the weakness of your own case.
Oh, you have no idea, sweetie-pie. (I’m assuming from your name that you’re a female.) I love the world around me. Don’t be fooled by my complaints here, they make up only around two or three percent of how I view life around me. I have a delightfully happy life, full of fun, family, friends and acquaintances, good food (and booze), music, books, friends, and enjoyable and entertaining recreational pursuits. If you met and spent an evening with me away from here you’d never know it was me.
