Given that you fancy yourself a reliable predictor of a person’s behavior based on who they choose to defend, up to and including the assumption that they’re likely to be rapists, I’m surprised you have to ask.

However, I doubt very seriously if the blacks of that era and the women of that era would have chosen to have things end up the way they are now.** I believe they would have preferred, as would I, to have things done in a more sensible, step-by-step manner that would have left the things that were good about that era intact.**

There is a reason why drugs and the gangsta culture and their associated crimes exist now where they didn’t in the black communities of the fifties and forties and back to the turn of the century. Life was segregated but otherwise pretty much normal. Black kids dressed nicely, went to schools where they actually learned things, and went on to live what most of us would consider normal lives. Segregation and racism were and are terrible things, but the people of the sixties didn’t invent them. They were centuries old even at that time. It was the people of the fifties and sixties, a great many of them conservative, who began to change that. And to the degree conservatives had had a voice in creating positive change in racism, it would have been accomplished more slowly no doubt, but without the pain and misery and loss of life that many members of the black community have had to endure, and without the lives of privation and poverty that so many of them are headed for now because of gangsta culture and the prevalence of the attitude that studying and trying to get ahead are “acting white” and are therefore to be scorned. Look at the grief Bill Cosby comes in for from the left for saying the same things I am, only he doesn’t get called a racist for it. He only gets called old and unsympathetic. But racist or old and divorced from the street, it all boils down to the same thing: blindly defending negative and destructive behavior just because it’s coming from a politically protected segment of society.

1. Not sure you’re using the word “assumption” correctly there.
2. Thanks for providing the link so that it will be clear to everyone that I said nothing that implies I can predict people’s behavior based on who they choose to defend. (“How they choose to defend a person from what charges in what context” would be closer.)
3. Do you think Sandusky engaged in acts with children that should rightly have put him in jail?

If I remember Starving’s position correctly, he believes that Sandusky did commit the acts for which he was convicted, but did nothing wrong in the instance that was seen and reported to Paterno.

Incorrect. Once enough information had come out to show a history of child abuse on Sandusky’s part I came to believe that he was misbehaving sexually with the boy but not raping him.

No shit, genius. The bends was my characterization of your stupidity. Your claim has always been that black people would have been better off getting civil rights more slowly and incrementally. Do you still deny this? There is lots more evidence to prove you did.

I wasn’t aware of any evidence other than the children’s having come forward and told the stories about it. Was there other evidence I wasn’t aware of?

It’s a sign of victory when virtually every hysterical claim made about Joe Paterno is proven to be false and those who originally claimed otherwise are left holding an empty sack. Which is exactly what happened. If they chose to disengage with me (although some like Bryan Ekers held out till the very end simply for trolling purposes) it was because their allegations were proven to have no merit.

Yes. There were times, dates and places mentioned, parent complaints, and police involvement. And the complaints were brought up at the time and not in a vague manner thirty, forty and fifty years after the fact.

None of which is the case with Cosby’s accusers, although I’ll grant that one wouldn’t ordinarily expect parental involvement in the case of Cosby.

I rarely bring up the Paterno thread, and on the occasions when I have it’s merely been in reference to the hysterical mob mentality at work there. The same sort we’ve seen with Woody Allen and now with Bill Cosby, as a matter of fact, where people don’t want to hear facts or the truth and react to both by making accusations of rape, pedophilia, etc. on the part of whoever is trying to bring them into the discussion – you know, like you and Frylock have done here.
