I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this so-called response – especially when she got to talking about “the next generation” or something like that – will be used to test the waters for a run at the Presidency.

There were others - the ‘response’ to the SOTU by both sides hasn’t been a ‘response’ in a long time (if ever). It’s pre-written speech with maybe some open spots where the speech-writers can shoehorn in something about what the President said.
And I don’t know that it needs to be. The President is given 2 hours of prime time to talk about what he (and hopefully someday she) has done and plans to do.
The ‘response’ is 20-30 minutes of time for the opposition - if they want to lay out their vision, more power to them. Or if they want to do whatever Sanders was doing with the time (like running for national office, also a tradition (and generally poorly done (see poor Bobby Jindal)), that’s fine also).
They should probably stop calling it a ‘response’.
Now I’m looking forward to all the Republicans talking about how “divisive” Biden was, despite still promoting bi-partisanship throughout his speech, while Huckabee’s little rant wasn’t much more than “Biden hates us, hates you, hates the United States, hates FREEDUM!!!”

For anyone who doesn’t think he has the stamina for this job, they should read this entire thread. He could have easily shuffled out of there, but stayed for a long time chatting and connecting with people. And shows how much he cares about other people.
I am amused by the thought that the Republicans claim that Biden is senile and mentally decrepit and yet he still openly outsmarted them.
Just more proof how disconnected they are from reality. Or, as we say here, just another Tuesday.
The SOTU was incredible. It’s not a competition or a debate, but there’s no other way I can say it. Biden won. And the response afterwards was likewise a complete disaster, as others have said.
I too thought she was going to add, “…and that’s why I’m running for President in 2024.”

Holy crap. This 4 minute clip absolutely embarassed the Republicans. Biden knows it and you can tell…McCarthy knows it. Biden absolutely killed them. He had a plan for their heckles. They had no plan. He slammed them.
I’ve never seen a State of the Union like it.
I wish Biden could have somehow shown the clip of Mike Lee talking about phasing out medicare by pulling it out by the roots. I heard Mike Lee described as the “smart republican” today, but I don’t think you can pull something out by the roots and then claim you phased it out.
He’s the one who pissed me off the most last night though. His reaction when Biden was talking about that made me want to throw something at my TV. I hear he’s also behind the fake elector idea.
I hope he goes to jail.
