Statues of Breaking Bad's Walter White and Jesse Pinkman to go up in Albuquerque

Interesting, because these are going up courtesy of Sony and showrunner Vance Gilligan, not like the TV Land statues that went up years ago in Salem, New York, Minneapolis, and elsewhere

Here are the TV Land statues

Other statues (not all by TV Land) are listed here

Will Jesse be holding out a teenth while Walter is clutching rolls of hundreds?

Guess it’s a sign of the times that Albuquerque is down with this. I remember reading about how the city council of New Caanan, CT, was very upset when they learned what the movie The Ice Storm was going to be about (or maybe just that it was going to include a key party) and they immediately withdrew their support for production.

ETA: I might be misremembering the part about the town actually yanking material support, but I did find an article about the outcry: https://www.nytimes.com/1996/05/19/nyregion/in-new-canaan-lights-action-angst.html

Will there be a ranch house nearby that you can throw pizzas onto the roof of?

There already is - Walter’s Breaking Bad ranch is a real home in Albuqeruque.

…the actual owners of Walter White’s home are sick of seeing pizzas on their roof.

“We’ve had pizzas on our roof. We’ve had pizzas on our driveway; pizzas until we’re sick of looking at pizzas,” Francis Padilla told NPR…

“I’ll sit outside with a shotgun in a rocking chair. You know, like Granny from Beverly Hillbillies,” she added.

Things got so bad that the family elected to begin construction of a six foot tall iron fence around their property in order to prevent additional pizza tossers. Unfortunately, the fence hasn’t been enough — people continue to try anyway.

“They still try to throw pizzas even though she’s got a gate, she’s got signage. We joke that it’s kind of military-hardened now. Pizza-hardened. Even to this day, people still try to do it.

When does Baltimore put up its Stringer Bell and Avon Barksdale statues?

Omar (statue) coming?

Can SF get a statue of Dirty Harry pointing his .44 down at you, “do you feel lucky?” And make the gun opening about an inch in diameter.

I’m thinking that a sculpture of them dissolving a corpse in a vat of acid would be more appropriate.

I think the barrel should be empty and for $30 you get to climb into it and they take a picture of Walt and Jessie dissolving you.

Moe Greene built Vegas and he doesn’t even have a plaque.

If it was me designing the statue you just know the moment I would immortalize.

I checked out one of the links above. I was hoping to see that there are statues of Frasier and Niles Crane somewhere in Seattle, but I didn’t see any.
