Staw Wars Episode 3 - The best way to handle the Vader problem

Will Lucas be able to resist making a few more $billions from ep. 7? The comment about restoring balance to the Galaxy seems to imply some more episodes later, since Luke certainly didn’t do it by the end of Ep. 6. I suppose they’d have to steer around the books, but 3 movies about the next generation could do that.

No, that was accomplished by the beginning of Ep IV. It’s just that the Jedi Council never stopped to realize that they didn’t want to bring balance to the Force.

Think about it: One Jedi knight, one Jedi master. One Sith knight, one Sith master. That’s balance.

I disagree. Balance is not good vs. evil. Balance occurs when the different forces (night and day, fire and water, and what have you) in the universe are in harmony, and we call that good. Evil is not a force of the universe, it is only a result of disbalance (if that’s a word).
The beginning of Ep 5 was the moment of maximum disbalance. Balance was achieved when Darth Vader became Anakin again and disruptions to the Force were eliminated.

I have always said the Star Wars franchise will be better off when Lucas dies. His kids will option off the rights and hopefully a talented writer will develop better property.

But the prophecy came from a time before Palpatine. The Sith had been gone for a while, so by this reasoning there should have been balance. I don’t think they considered there to be balance then, so Lucas (if he wanted to) has a good excuse for 3 more movies.

He’s good at setting up things like this.

Here’s my wag, now that that “last 5 minutes” thing has been announced:

Anakin starts flipping out and killing people.
Palpatine eggs him on, and rats out the Jedi (Mace Windu will probably bite it this way).
Anakin evntually has a huge lightsaber duel with someone important–I’m gonna guess Obi-Wan.
In said duel, Anakin pretty much gets his ass whooped, but Obi-Wan refuses to kill him. Anakin then gets transformed into bio-Darth Vader and spends the last couple of minutes overseeing the complete takeover of the galaxy with Palpatine.

Re Vader looking pained…

scratches head

How can you tell?

Use the force, dude!
