A few days ago, on recommendation from a friend, I put Valheim on my Steam wish-list. Hm, 20 bucks, not bad, but I’ll wait to see if it goes on sale.
Lo and behold, yesterday, I got an email “A game on your wish list is on sale!” Boom, Valheim, 50% off, $9.99. Well, it was too late in the evening yesterday, but it said the sale was good through October 27. OK, I’ll come back to it.
Today, I check the Steam listing, and it just says $19.99. Even when I add it to my cart and view cart, it’s still $19.99.
Am I doing something wrong, here, or is Steam?
It’s showing as $19.99 for me. SteamDB does say it was listed at $9.99, but only for a day. Which is strange, because it usually goes on sale for two weeks at a time.
It’s either a glitch that made it cheap, or a glitch that changed it back. Other than that, I don’t have any explanation, sorry.
I’m guessing, mind you, but I think it was likely a glitch on the sale at all, rather than a glitch back. I mean there are a metric ton of games on sale right now, but I actually own Valheim (many of my friends have already played through the campaign earlier in the pre-release) and if there had been a sale, I’m guessing they and all the other rabid fans would have been notifying all of the group that haven’t bought it yet to do so.
But that’s just an educated guess.
There’s a bunch of people on the Steam discussion group for the game also asking about the “flash” discount. No dev response but definitely wasn’t just you.
It’s been $9.99 a number of times in the past year so I’d guess maybe they put it back on the fall sale this week or else it’ll dip to $9.99 over Thanksgiving.
