Stewart/Colbert Rally on the National Mall: 30 Oct 2010

I sure as hell hope not. That’s the exact opposite of the spirit of it. I hope I don’t see any signs like that.

That’s funny but just the hate side will get on TV and be used to point out how nasty we are.

I’m looking forward to the best sign slide shpw of any political rally ever.

I’d suggest no personal mocking, no mocking of a particular ideology

  END DADT
                                                   Dumb Ass Divisive Tantrums
                                                     or something?

Here’s something more subtle aimed at Beck

                                                    RESTORE HONORESTY!!

I disagree with having Tina Fey there, this isn’t and SNL skit, this is far better. Profound satire requires subtlety, something SNL never had.

If you can’t keep up with the conversation, you’re going to have to sit at the kiddies table. (I use this one all the time.)

Where’s Waldo?

Where did I park?

Where are the nuclear wessels?

Two ppl, man and woman. The woman’s sign says, “Forrest?”, and the man’s sign says, “Jenny!”

So If Dave Matthews plays a show on the mall, it will be perceived as racist?

My 70-year old mother called me up and said she wants to go! My mother who shuns crowds and doesn’t like to meet strangers…she just thinks it’s that important.

I plan on making a sign that says ELECT THE SANE.

I’m probably not going to be able to make it (I’d really love to be there though) so here’s the idea I had: make a life-size cardboard cutout of myself holding a sign and send it to someone who is actually going to the rally so they can take it with them.

For the Jon Stewart rally, my cardboard cutout would have a sign saying “Not irate enough to be here in person!”

For the Stephen Colbert rally, the sign would say “Too afraid to be here in person!”

For those of y’all that are in the Northeast near an Amtrak station, you can take an overnight train Friday and get in Saturday morning, and leave the same way. The train trip is about as fast as driving too. That gives a solid day in DC without having to pay for hotels or gas, and a round trip ticket from Boston costs around $130.

If I can justify the expense it’s how I’ll go…

Was that a mid-life Korea change?

Will they have the Lincoln Memorial?

That’s just wonderful to hear, and I’m sure Stewart and Colbert would get a big grin hearing it too. I hope you’re taking her. The most important thing in my 72-year-old mother’s life is knowing where her cigarettes are.

I’m gonna figure out a way to go to this.

And I’ve thought of a sign:
AMERICANS UNITED
AGAINST
LARGE PUBLIC DEMONSTRATIONS

I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK.

YOU KNOW, THE SANE ONE.i

I am so there. If I still one of your (many) clever sign ideas, I will give you credit.

If I could go, this would be perfect.

Can tens of thousands of people in a public gathering do subtle?

I want a chant:

Q: What do we want?
A: (Everyone shouting something completely different from the others).

And of course Sir Terry has to be there, in spirit at least:

Pulling together is the aim
of despotism and tyranny.
Free men pull in all
kinds of directions.

Ooh, I like this one a lot!
