Is there a specific art term for a still life containg people. My daughter is writing a spanish paper on Diego Valezquez and her teacher says there is a specific term, and it is not Bodegon. If there is a specific term, I would love to know what it is, and a reference that is not Wiki would be good, because this teacher is always always correct.
Portrait?
What is the difference between a Bodegon and a Still Life, btw?
Still life with people?
Like painting of corpses?
I’m having trouble visualizing a “still life with people.” Maybe people eating from a bowl of fruit?
Would that be a melange? A bricolage?
Like his The Water-Carrier of Seville. Evidently this is considered a still life although most of the painting is filled with people.
A bodegon is a kitchen scene, which also includes people, and as best I can ascertain, is considered a still life. I always thought that a still life only had objects. That is the source of disagreement with the teacher.
ok, found the painting. The word that comes to mind (and I know squat) is scene. Maybe find a fancy frenchy word for scene and try your luck. Maybe vignette?
