Help out an old fart and define the trendy internet term please.
“Shipping” comes from the tendancy for rabid fans of some show or comic to invent/wish for romantic relationships between the fictional characters not actually mentioned by the creators of the fiction. “Ship” = short for “relationship”.
This has spawned a host of similar terms (for example, where the author is aware that the fans are doing this and inserts some nod towards the fans in the actual work, this is a “ship tease”).
Sure, I was intentionally abusing the term, because I find it amusing. Nevertheless, the meaning was clear, right?
sigh I must be getting too old not to figure this out. Off to buy some Ensure, Metamucil, and Geritol.
Bengay! Don’t forget the Bengay!
I’m pretty sure Marigold is a virgin. I mean hell, it took her forever just to hit on her roommate, and it was done in the style and panache of a 12 year old.
Could you imagine the clusterfuck Hanners and Marigold doing the deed for the first time? Even if Hannalore could get over the whole body fluid exchange thing, they wouldn’t know what to do, or what to put where. Although, she was intrigued by the big purple vibrating thing… hmm…
It’s not rocket science, and I’m sure Marigold has done some self-exploratory work. Hannelore probably just sits on top of the washing machine - it’s why she washes her clothes so often.
Stop that.
Hanners would have no problem using the big purple vibrating thing…as long as it was thoroughly sanitized before and after the act.
In other fandoms, the custom is to come up with a portmanteau name for the couple that you are shipping. Thus, in Buffy, those who ship Buffy + Angel refer to Bangel. Those who ship Spike + Buffy refer to Spuffy, etc.
So, Sven + Faye = Svea? They should really cook!
I’d think “Fen”, which is also plural for “Fan” in some circles.
So is the other faction called “Faygus”? “Angaye”?
Not to mention “Marilore” or “Hannegold”
Do you think that’s why Jeph moved away from putting Faye and Marten together? I mean, “Farten” isn’t terribly romantic…
snert.
I had never read it before. But the most recent involving reserving emotional reaction until a later point at which it is safe to discharge it rang true to such a point that it intrigued me. But then I hit the ‘previous button’ for which the comic (something to do with radioactive blowjobs?) did not seem to have any immediate retroactive continuity with the most recent one. So Im slightly intrigued combined with slightly temporally confused…
The previous strip is from April 1. It’s his April Fool’s Joke. The site’s title banner was also briefly changed to Magical Love Gentleman (which is the title of a yaoi manga that Marigold reads).
(And you simply mean ‘continuity’…‘retroactive continuity’ is something else.)
Marigold does nothing for me. I was disappointed when Penelope shuffled Raven off-stage so completely, but now even she’s just a memory. Those characters are funny; Marigold is too insecure to make a joke.

Hannelore is awesome! I wonder if she’ll ever get “better.”
I think it’s clear she has gotten better. She’s now able to deal with her problems enough that she socialize with people and even comfort Marigold.
Just read 1636-1640. Nothing big happened but there were a few funny moments. I like the “emergency bourbon.”
