Stolen content. Again.

I just checked my SDMB addy, and no increase in spam.

In fact…the spam level there…is shockingly…low… :dubious:
But I am more than a little hurt I’m not being plagerized over at the Cock site. It seems every thread they rip off that I was part of here, they deliberately eliminate every reference to my posts!!

Which means, if indecisive1 is right, then I don’t exist in the real universe. I might have to come to accept the fact that I’m just the figment of some chick’s imagination.

This is strange … look at the memberlist and the post counts.

On most message boards, about 10% of registered users make 90% of the posts, mas o menos. The post count from the majority of users will be in the single digits. On Bizarro Dope, most users have double and triple digit post counts.

Considering that there are brand new bizarro threads that copy relatively recent SDMB threads, I suspect that whoever is doing the reposting hasn’t seen this thread.

(BTW, Guinastasia, I hope you’re feeling better. You too, Mary. )

I offer pearls of wisdom and these bozos give me the parallel universe username of “Penelope Prissy Pants?”

Well. I never.

Wouldn’t it be funny if this thread were to end up there?

Zev Steinhardt

What a horrible, horrible, horrible place!

And they didn’t seem to steal any of my posts, either!!

I wondered if I could scare up any other complaints about them stealing content, and didn’t find any. But I found this list, which I suspect provides quite a number of places Qadgop and most of us will want to avoid:

http://www.allthingskawaii.net/links/Communities/Boards/

Cockadoodledoo is rated at 8.73/10 with 330 votes - the mind boggles.

There are other references from more of that kind of crowd. I might suggest that Qadgop could keep that list handy and have no more professional need for syrup of ipecac.

At first this was funny, in a pathetic sort of way, but this just crosses the line.

Stealing a thread about a Doper’s friend’s death.

Low.

I note with interest that at least some of these bizarro-threads contain addresses to the OP by name… By name of the fake username. But I haven’t noticed any references to the actual names of the Dopers who created the real posts. Unless anyone else has a counterexample for me, this means one of two things: Either someone is wickedly smart at coding AI and is wasting his time writing spiders to systematically remove or replace username references (including misspellings and abbreviations of usernames), or these fake threads are being copied and reposted by humans. I’m not sure which possibility is more pathetic.

HOLY FRIGGIN’ CRAP! There is no way of that being coincidental, I had that as my sig a very long time ago WORD FOR WORD from a conversation I had with a couple fellow dopers.

Thank you for finding that and bringing it to my attention,

.

and please ignore my screwing up of the code used here.

I’m sufficiently intrigued to want to sneak over and look at what’s going on, but apparently reader logins have to be approved by an admin over there. Anyone know the drag time on that?

Note to mods: read, not post. I shall lurk in the lurkiest fashion.

It looks like Ms. Admin is doing a little…housecleaning. Most links posted here seem to go to username-password login screens or to “topic deleted” screens when they didn’t before (else no one could have read them to know they were mirrors of threads here). However, the main board is still mostly readable without logging in, as is their member list and search function.

It looks like she’s on to us.

Yep, some of her forums have shrunk to a tenth of what they were before.

Man, I wish I could read the letter the Reader lawyers sent her. Must have been pretty scary, to get her moving that quickly!

that’s because you’re not a 99er. :stuck_out_tongue:

Now I’m curious what her explanation to her actual users will be regarding all the threads that disappeared. I also assume she’ll move on and start stealing content from other message boards.

The number of visible subforums has reduced quite a bit.

The current post count there is 137,204. Add up the numbers of the visible forums, though, and the final tally is 50,311.

Cleaning up that place is going to be a messy job. All the Dope posts could be easily removed by deleting all the messages posted by the socks, but what remains are threads where the context of the few remaining posts is lost.

60 registered users during the last 24 hours. Let’s see if that number drops a bit after socks are wiped out, if that is what happens.

Server crash, MySQL database corruption, anyhing. She’ll probably calll it The Winter of Our Missed Content.

Can we zap them with 1920s-style Death Rays? Please???!!!?
