Stop Sending Me Chain Letters! I Will NOT Forward Them On To 20 People, Dickhead!

Yeh, Guin, that’s one thing that drove me out of membership in a mailing list too, only in my case I bailed out in disgust just ahead of the lynch mob.

At one point I was averaging a solid 20 per day, 500 a month, etc. It’s down a good bit since then, but 13K posts in 4 years and 3 months … oh, Hell, lemme figure it out for you. It’s up to a grand total of … 8.55 per day.

I could swear I’ve been posting like I’m chained to this laptop the past few days, but when you’ve been here as long as I have, … well, if I had about a hundred more posts (78 or so, to be specific), my ppd rate would go up by five hundredths of a post, or one every 20 days - basically 4 posts over 3 months. It takes a hell of a lot to raise one’s ppd average significantly at this rate.
Nobody sends me glurgy shit anymore. Perhaps it’s because I send them back Snopes stuff along with a note saying something like “I expect better than this from you.” I don’t have to work with these people, and most of them aren’t relatives, and the rest are otherwise-intelligent folks who responded well to the hit to the head.

I didn’t realize people were still sending this shit out. I haven’t gotten a piece of chain mail/glurge in about 4-5 years.

I have awesome friends.

I never thought about it like that, but you know, you’re right.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a ‘whatever’ or ‘right-on’ post from ETF. I have however, seen some killer poetry pastiches.

And limericks! Don’t forget THAT
Poetical form, where I’m apt
To churn out some verse
Turning bad into worse
Dog-eat-doggerel, titting for tat.

Oh, don’t get me wrong. I wasn’t making commentary on ETF’s quality or quantity. I was referring to Kythereia’s healthy 55 plus ppd* (at the time of this writing). How can you have a 55 plus ppd count and not have more than a few, if not in length but in spirit, extraneous posts. I understand new people are sometimes eager to participate and want to give the board an instant flavor of their knowledge and posting style; but 116 posts in 2 days? “I agree.” “Uh-huh.” “I like what you’ve done here.” “You just may right.” “I’m going to have to disagree with you on this one.” “Anyone know what time it is?” “Now where did I put my keys?”

I’m going to have to invoke the electron location probability principle here. With so many posts in two days, the probability of finding a post by Kythereia in a given thread started in the last two days is greater than 90%.

What I was saying—poorly, I guess—about ETF’s ppd was that 8 is not overly ridiculous, especially when most, if not all, are of the “non-whatever” variety.
