I nearly missed the fact that my charter membership was expiring. It looks like I jsut got in under the wire. I missed it because I haven’t been here for a while. Was there some kind of e-mail reminder sent out? If so, I missed it and I’m at fault. If not, it might be something to consider doing in the future.
There were two reminders sent out. One about a week before the deadline, and another two days before. Is your email in your profile current? Do you have the “Receive Email from Administrators” checkbox checked? Or perhaps they’re in your spam folder?
Then I must be at fault somehow. The address is definitely current because I get the e-mails about subscribed threads. If it went to the spam folder then it’s gone and I’ll never know. I’ll check out that checkbox. What address would be in the “from” field in administrator’s e-mails? I want to add it to my address book so I know for sure that it won’t go into the spam folder in the future.
Umm, I dunno. I’ve already deleted mine. Anybody?
The checkbox is in “Edit Options” in your User CP.
I just checked and the email address is good and that checkbox is checked. I guess it ended up in the spam folder. I’ll just add a filter that redirects anything containing “straightdope.com” to the in box. I think that’ll work.
The address used was “webmaster@straightdope.com.”

Rusalka, you have set your preferences to not “Receive Email from Administrators” and therefore you did not receive the email.

Hi. I’m kinda new here, but I’ve posted w/i the past few weeks. I have cash or money order, but I can’t use plastic or paypal to pay for my membership.
