All together now: Um, what? OK, sure. Whatever.
You said it all man . Fight the good fight .
ROCK ON !!!
That does it. I’m going to join SDS. I’d join a Morituri group and really give it a go, but I think I’m too old.
Viva whatever!
Huh?
A new forum we must need-- Mundane Pointless Unintelligible Stuff I Must Share.
All Hell can’t stop us now!
Well, New York has the Verrazano Narrows and Washington has Juan de Fuca. The mouth of Chesapeake Bay doesn’t really qualify, but Alaska has the entire Inside Passage that might be stretched to meet the definition. Detroit, of course, is the French word for it (making the Detroit River vaguely redundant as a name). Basically, however, we really can’t work up a lot of activity for posters that are connected to straits.
You might want to try a board connected to nation built on an archipelago. I’m sure that Japan and Indonesia have many important straits.
The OP reads like an LSD insight.
The way I read it is:
**STRAITS 'R U.S. - the STRAIT Dope **
The Unites States is in trouble (straits) and he is going to warn us of it (the strait dope).
Bureaucracy ALIAS Democracy, is cloaked in patriotic colors:
RED tape, created by
WHITE collar crooks against
BLUE collar straights in straits and strays in straitjackets
We think that the United States is a democracy but rather is a bureaucracy created by the corporations to keep down the manual laborer and those inconoclasts that they have marginalized as crazy (strays in straitjackets). The great irony is that the corporations have successfully boondoggled the American people that the bureaucracy they have created to maintain their power is actually a democratic institution administered by the people!
Workers of the world unite and no foreign investment in developing countries! Nader 2000!
So, Jally, was I close?
You know, I’d say that he’s the kinda person who gives all us liberals a bad name, but I’m not sure that’s what he is talking about…
…I thought briefly that it might be a homophobic thing, but apparently not…
So I will say this loud and clear:
** What in God’s name are you talking about? Was that even English? Good Lord, man, get a grip and lay off the hallucinogens. **
Ah, jally…see what happens when you don’t take your meds on time?
obfusciatrist: I think you’re on the right track, but you need to read jally’s threads in ATMB. I believe he/she is equating the SDMB to the United States, with both being run as you described–authoritarian regimes that oppress the masses.
(Am I right, jally? C’mon, tell me I’m right. I love it when somebody tells me I’m right.)
It’s a shame, but sometimes these things don’t make sense without proper unencoding. The particular code used in the OP is a peculiar combination of Russian WWII and German WWI ciphers. The fine art of encoding has been lost to all but a few, and we should be properly overjoyed to find one who is still accomplished in this neglected pasttime.
I have taken the liberty of translating this fine piece of wartime literature into English using the famed “Babelfish Spanish-English” technique. If you don’t hear from me again, you may assume I have been killed by enraged CIA officials.
"NARROW STRAITS ’ R the drug of the E.E.U.U. - the democracy of the bureaucracy ALIAS, is disguised in patriotic colors:
RED tape, created by
the thieves of the BLUE necklace
WHITE against in straights of the necklace the Straits and parasites in jackets of force "
Got that? This message will self-destruct in three…
Obfus, I was strongly tempted to just ignore everyone, and let them interpret things each in their own warped way, since my post is open to interpretation, perhaps deliberately so. But, since you seem to have some grey matter left, despite your ill-conceived LSD insult, i’ll say you’re most on the mark, except add “government” to corporations (the latter I hadn’t thought of but you got a point). As for most of the rest of the above responses, they’re obviously the far gone strays I was referring to, probably on crack too. And why I should bother contorting my brain to speak in the warped way of, say, 90% ? of SDMBers beats me. Would any of them bother stretching their habits to suit me? It’s gotta work both ways, babbling babes. I wonder, do they ever consider how their grandkids will view their babble? (then again they’re probably only used to anticipating a minute ahead, make that a second ahead, never mind decades ahead.)
And to you-know-who (hmmm… do i remember you from somewhere?) no, this time I wasn’t referring to SDMBers - ah… you got a persecution complex? Actually, you gave me an idea there, cuz in a way, they’re forming their unique brand of SDMB bureaucracy. The bureaucracy of lunatics. BTW, since you’re so well-travelled around these parts, maybe you can fill me in (that’s if you choose to.) Just what percentage of SD regulars are NORMALS from jally’s point of view? And from everything you say, I’m sure you’ve got me tagged.
Hey, I’m in!!! George Strait is one of my favorites (see the “Favorite Love Song” thread over in IMHO). Plus, he seems like he’s just an all-around nice guy.
:: reads OP again ::
Um…never mind. Back under my rock
We’re not asking you to change you behaviour; we’re asking you to speak in something other than a cracked-out slogan. I sincerely hope you don’t talk that way IRL…
…on the other hand, it might be amusing.
Citizen regulating human we and change. Calf instrumental west! Revelation access anyone characteristics dangerous if. Equilibrium irrational most rhetoric suggested!
jally, still unmedicated, said (probably to me, though I don’t think I’d bet my life savings on it):
Now thisshould be in sombody’s sig.
Damn few of 'em, I’d guess. And, to my knowledge, none that refer to themselves in the third-person.
No, jally, that I don’t–too many possibilities for me to decide just yet. For now I’ll take you as you present yourself–if I discover you making sense somewhere, I’ll reevaluate.
Jally you truly are the Ed Wood of posters .
Post 92 from Outer Space.
once again, we use the power of internet translators to have some fun!!!
the OP from english to french, french to german, german back to english!!!
STRAITS ’ r dopant from the United States - SO-CALLED STRAIT is masked the bureaucracy democracy in patriotic colours:

And thus un-encoded by the laudable Larrigan, the truth is revealed – a slightly obscure lyric from Dire Straights, circa 1978.
Elementary my dear space cadet.
Now all we need to do is play the track backwards at 78rpm to establish the location of Paul’s missing shoe’s from the Abbey Road cover.
