Egads, danceswithcats ! Take it easy with that stuff! The plant I retired from no longer uses MEK and 1-1-1 trichloroethane because they’re so bloody dangerous to the user.
I just love the smell of fresh baked rye bread. Fresh rosemary herb is fabulous.
The way a wool or mohair coat smells, coming in from the cold, always reminds me of Mom.
I gave up tobacco more than twenty-five years ago, but I kept the pipe tobacco for five more years, just for the aroma.
Knob Creek bourbon whiskey smells heavenly.
It’s hard to beat the aroma of a pressure-cooker fulla green beans and new potatoes.
I’m not a carpenter, but the smell of fresh cut pine is nice.
Hey! :smack: None of the smileys has a nose! What’s with that?
I like the colognes with a spicy undertone, but then I love my spices.
The scent just after sex, that speaks so loudly of satisfaction.
Home cooking. Baking. Canning. Just - Food.
And a newly discovered one: the scent of fresh motor oil. The boyfriend just opened a garage, and he was showing me around, and handed me an open oil jug, saying “I love the smell of Pennzoil in the morning.” Too bad the office isn’t enclosed …

Comet! It makes your breath smell clean!
Comet! It tastes like gasoline!
Comet! It makes you vomit —
So by some Comet
And vomit
Today.

I really wish I could contribute more original smells to this, but:

Glad to hear I’m not the only one who loves the smell of steel. I’ve mentioned it to people and they’ve insisted it has no aroma!
Ice Wolf
Been to Rotorua? You’d be in heaven, volcanic sulfur smell everywhere. And only a few hours from Auckland.
Ok, my six that aren’t ripped straight from someone else’s list:
[li]leather[/li][li]after a light rain, the sun comes out and starts warming everything up again[/li][li]burnt gunpowder[/li][li]speaking of guns, one of the solvents I use has a really nice, sweet smell[/li][li]dried cloves. Part of the reason I love making pumpkin pie[/li][li]pipe tobacco
[/li]None of these “turn me on” but they’re just things I like the smell of and would miss if I couldn’t

I like most of the aforementioned smells. . .grass, winter (I know what you mean), bread, storms, solvents (oooh yeah), etc. As for turn-ons, there are some perfumes I remember from girlfriends in my teens (CKOne, or something?), and bleach–a girlfriend in high school worked at a restaurant and would get off of work after cleaning up smelling like bleach. Memories.
This one guy’s breath (though I usually can’t stand to breathe someone else’s breath, when I’d sleep with this guy, I’d align myself so I could inhale as much of his breath as possible… drove me crazy!)
Smells I just like without being turned on:
Lilacs, baking, magnolia perfume, and the Body Shop Satsuma oil. Yum!
