Strange New Worlds season 2 to start June 15, 2023

The best Star Trek since the original returns this month!

Now with Carol Kane. (New Chief Engineer)
And a live action cross-over with “Below Decks”.

The Official Trailer:

So yes, I need to subscribe to Paramount+ again.

So apparently season 1 is available on YouTube. All 10 episodes. Apparently they decided “Strange New Worlds” is the best way to advertise both the show and the entire Streaming Service. This is an awesome show with a built audience so it makes sense to me.

Thanks for the heads-up. My wife and I started watching this last night. A nice departure from her usual “watching Star Trek reruns for the umpteenth time on H&I every night” routine. The YouTube ads were annoying but mostly because they were badly timed, they’d just pop up randomly in the middle of a scene. But whaddya want for nothing, eh?

I’m waiting to see how Spock ends up drinking with a group of Klingons (assuming I saw that correctly) Wasn’t the Federation at war with the Klingons then?

I just found this show a few weeks back and am currently working my way through Season 1. I am really enjoying it so far and hope it stays this good. It’s like they’ve found their groove again. Finally!

Hemmer’s last line was a reference to Scott’s failed trek to the south pole, wasn’t it?

Solid enough first episode. Nothing outstanding about it but nothing terrible either. It did lift a moment from Lower Decks and a moment from Return of the Jedi, though.

Sure, but there’s always room for a good “enemies join together to fight something worse” episode.

Oh crap I just realized this came out today.

I am going to try to watch it tonight. I freaking loved the last season. Even if they killed off my favorite character.

How many episodes did they drop 1,2 or 3?

I just hopped in my Paramount+ app to check, just one episode.

Thanks, I’m going to bow out of this thread for 2 weeks and restart my Paramount+ account then and catch up.

I’m not a huge Trek fan but I thought Lower Decks was set a century or two after Strange New Worlds.

Well don’t forget, DS9 did a Tribbles cross-over with TOS and it was a great episode.

So this should work. Jonathan Frakes is directing that episode.

It was one of my favorites of that series.

Mine too, but some die-hard DS9 fans apparently don’t/didn’t love it.

Its post TNG and DS9 - but not by much.

approximately 120 years post ‘The Cage’ (2259) and is set in 2380.

I felt the same way. I ended the episode satisfied. It was an average episode for this series. Which to me, makes it a lot better than most episodes of most shows. I’m certainly looking forward to the rest of the season.

I place the ep as below average for the series. Which is still fine enough.

Personally, I found the fight scenes to be boring and cliche, which is not what you want from a fight scene. M’Benga and Chapel inject themselves with something and suddenly they can beat up 20 Klingons?

It was green so I assume it was a spinach hypospray.
